Et la quasi-totalité d'entre eux viennent d'Haïti et d'autres pays voisins comme Cuba, le Brésil et le Suriname. Il n'y en a pratiquement pas en provenance du Maghreb. La question n'est pas de savoir si l'Insee a collecté les données correctement, mais comment les auteurs ont codé l'origine des noms et comment ils ont interprété les données.

Otherwise, why are the numbers so high in overseas departments like Martinique, Guadeloupe, and French Guiana? There aren't any significant numbers of migrants from the Maghreb or the Middle East there, especially in French Guiana, where the migrants are Brazilians and Haitians. On the other hand, in Mayotte, Muslim and African names account for 81%, even though the population is over 99% Muslim.

regarding the study you are referring to: A particularly suspicious aspect of this sample is that it contains almost no people with more than 80% Indigenous ancestry, even though such people are numerous in parts of northern Argentina, and very few people with more than 95% European ancestry, despite the enormous and geographically concentrated European immigration of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The idea that these immigrants simply blended evenly into a single nationwide mestizo population is demographically implausible. European migrants did not settle randomly across Argentina. They were heavily concentrated in particular cities, agricultural colonies, ports, and regions, many of which were founded or largely populated during the immigration era. For those populations to lose their distinct ancestry distribution within only a few generations, there would have had to be massive randomized migration from the rest of the country into those same places, followed by almost completely random intermarriage. Neither migration nor marriage works that way. People tend to marry within the same cities, neighborhoods, social classes, family networks, and communities. The sample may also be affected by strong self-selection. Descendants of recent Italian, Spanish, or other European immigrants often already know where their families came from and may have less reason to take an ancestry test. People with mixed family histories or old-stock Argentine branches have a much stronger incentive, precisely because part of their ancestry is unknown. A voluntary GEDmatch sample can therefore overrepresent people with mixed or uncertain ancestry and underrepresent people whose recent European background is already obvious to them.
