Harold Macmillan famously replied when asked what caused him to change his policies: "Events, dear boy, events." Yet political scientists have often reduced a leader's agency to little more than a product of broader forces. Robert Jervis, a pioneer in leadership psychology, refuses to dismiss the role of leadership in shaping international outcomes. We see this clearly in the case of Field Marshal Asim Munir, as confirmed by Politico's report on how Pakistan became a key player in the high stakes Iran US talks. It was Munir's leadership, his ability to build trust, and his willingness to seize opportunities that impressed Trump, the Iranians, the Saudis, and perhaps even the Indians, though they would never admit it. His decisiveness has shown itself many times, from the May War to the war on terror to the Taliban regime, and now as a mediator. Yesterday, he flew to Iran in the middle of a war. Events did offer Pakistan an opportunity, but it would be unjust not to credit the Field Marshal's dynamism for bringing Pakistan back onto the world map.

Indeed a Brave Soldier. It takes a lot of courage & bravery to visit & land in Tehran - where every spot is on the Israeli hit list. When Trump says "My Favourite Field Marshal" he deserves it to the favourite of all those who love brave soldier. More likely the entire Iranian airspace is Pak airforce controle.

@KiyyaBaloch We are in the same cycle as Ayub and Zia. Their proximity to the USA had made them internationally acceptable and brought relative prosperity at home. But it afforded them great impunity domestically, which translated into harsh measures especially against smaller nations in Pak.

We are living a chapter of Pakistan studies that future generations will study in books. "ISLAMABAD ACCORD"

And do you have anything to do with it. It’s the diplomacy that matters and Pakistan is ruling. Relax and remember Intruders are not allowed in Pakistan’s Internal Affairs, let us deal with it.

A military general goes around representing Pakistan, such a proud moment for pro-democracy Pakistanis

Tonight, my heart swells with pride for Pakistan 🇵🇰❤️ Amid the fires of war, when the world watched in fear... our leaders flew straight into Tehran with guts of fire and hearts of steel. No hesitation, no excuses. We didn't just talk peace we delivered it. Pakistan is rising as the bridge for global peace. Doubters will scream, but history will remember who had the courage.

Narr ka bacha hai waisay Asim Munir

he landed there in full confidence knowing that if Israel does anything to him on Iranian soil, Tel Aviv would see the sunrise at midnight.
