The cartoon is about games being turned into movies, which is usually the most egregious case, but it can also apply to cartoons or tv shows. I think games are the worst-off because there's absolutely no way anyone on the movie's production staff is going to play the game and get an understanding of it. At best there's an "advisor" with zero authority who stands around watching Hollywood destroy his world.
