Today, I had the honour of receiving His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Bauchi as he paid a condolence visit following the passing of our revered Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi. The President was warmly welcomed at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport by myself, alongside the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, members of the Federal Executive Council, and other distinguished dignitaries. In a deeply symbolic gesture, President Tinubu announced the renaming of the Federal University of Sciences, Azare, in honour of the late Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi. This tribute stands as a testament to the Sheikh’s lifelong commitment to Islamic scholarship, spiritual guidance, and moral leadership, a legacy that has touched lives far beyond Bauchi State. The President extended heartfelt condolences to the Sheikh’s family, the government, and the people of Bauchi State, describing his passing as a monumental loss to the nation. He also offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the Sheikh’s soul and appreciated the warm reception given to him and his entourage.
