What it takes to run a club of any size, let alone succeed, is truly terrifying. How much better those days when clubs had to survive largely on gate receipts - without need of wealthy benefaction or huge loans?

Port Vale lost £6.1m in 24/25, when the club finished 2nd in League Two. That works out at £117,000 a week...in League Two. This takes total losses to over £17m from when the company that currently owns teh club was formed in 2014 The club's losses were underwritten by a £19.6m loan from owners.

I have to say @matt_uggla & Julie-Anne are the best thing to happen to this club in its life time. Not only that, they are creating a blueprint for ownership at this level. They are examples of how to bring a club together, connect a fan base and its city. It’s even more impressive given they are not initially from the city. I deeply believe Jason McGill is been driven by envy and regret that these two have come in and had the impact they’ve had in last few years. He’s brought a retrospective claim out of thin air and I hope this doesn’t impact the run in.

AFC Fylde making a profit of £44k in 24/25 when staff numbers increased from 46 to 75 certainly looks impressive. Should be noted however that the owner’s other companies paid the club £1.65 million in sponsor deals that season too, which certainly helped the profits.
