Using brains & slide rules @peelschools GLE students at SLSS were able to leverage LIEP funded Micro:Bit's to drive servos & make moving mouth animatronics, much in the same way Disney does to follow prerecorded audio tracks. youtu.be/9AYd5ZuEiyY @peel21st

@rchids @chasngsqurls This was a really interesting paper but too few AI papers discuss the societal harms in creating large language models. ‘AI in ED’ articles typically explore ‘is it cheating’ ethical questions instead of ‘is it moral to use a tool that harmed people and continues to harm people’

Sorry for delay in response. I'm sure everyone is busy in their classrooms, lives, etc. Here is the code & wiring guide images. Its really simple code. The "magic numbers" - 400 & 700 - were determined via trial & error to increase sensitivity to range of materials in classroom.

@CMooreAnderson Timelines present science as a constant linear ‘march of progress’ with new scientific knowledge only being built upon prior work, never being influenced by the world around it. Highschool students are ready to learn about more complex ideas from STS & the nature of science.

My understanding is that a person must be 18+ to use #chatGPT. Am I reading that correctly? I know some Ss don't read/follow terms of agreement, but if correct, this is probably important for K-12 boards, districts, educators developing activities & policy openai.com/terms/

Its not easy to use or preferred by the kids or teachers but hey it checks all these other boxes. Canadian programmers make a lot of world class software BS isn’t. It’s the Murdoch Mysteries of VLE and they’re forcing everyone to watch it.

@JBradshaw01 @lisaannefloyd @PeelSchools @PDSBDirector The privacy concerns with Google vs Brightspace aren’t really equivalent. Google is an ad platform that we actively train our students to use via our normalization of it. It has a very poor privacy/ethical track record.

@JBradshaw01 @lisaannefloyd @PeelSchools @PDSBDirector It isn’t fun to say, and it motivates no-one… but our board owns the intellectual property of what we create to use in the classroom. Much in the same way that a car design is owned by Porsche even though it may be created by individual.
