An incredibly moving and well attended memorial in Stalybridge last night to mark 80 years since the D Day landings. Thanks to Peter Edwards and the Dukinfield & Stalybridge branch of the Royal British Legion, the veterans and the general public who made the event so special

One for the diary - a small commemoration service here in Stalybridge to remember such a historic event that changed the course of the War and helped bring to an end such a dark chapter in European history.

Heartbreaking to see the damage caused by last nights localised tornado and relieved there’s no serious injuries. Great response by all the emergency services and so proud of Tameside council opening Dukinfield town hall and having our engineers and tree staff working all night

Its with great sadness that I have learnt of the passing of my friend Pete Rawson. Pete was Tameside Chief Engineer who rebuilt Ashton market hall following the devastating fire, built an interim replacement and re-engineered the canal in Stalybridge. I will miss him greatly

4pm and it’s all go for the Stalybridge Music Festival- loads of venues with loads of great music until 9pm tonight. Get yourselves down!!!

Here’s the line up for this weekends annual Stalybridge Bridge Fest music festival. Building on last years amazing programme this year promises to be even bigger and better. Big shout out to the Stalybridge Town Team who are leading on the event and all of the venues and sponsors

The scene a few days ago with several narrow boats on the canal running through the centre of #Stalybridge. One of the ambitions of the upcoming regeneration is to provide a secure central mooring section to encourage more boat owners to visit, stay overnight and enjoy the town

Down at Salford University on a glorious day to dazzle the top students with another red hot lecture!!
