Exciting new acquisitions for the Museum this weekend! I was able to (after a lot of physical effort) pull out two cool items from a vintage 1959 OTC bus (the year Ottawa acquired a new fleet when it transitioned from streetcars to buses)!

And the original bus number plate from the front of the bus, also well preserved!

This is the original destination roll (the full complete unit, complete with the hand crank the driver would use to change the destination), and the route # roll/crank (one part missing sadly) in surprisingly well-preserved condition!

The city is years - no decades - behind in proper heritage review. This Bill would essentially lock in what we have designated now, and permanently exempt all buildings on the heritage register (not yet designated houses of potential interest that the city hasn't gotten to yet)

Bill 23 includes terms that would basically in the next 2 years exempt every non-designated house from being able to be considered for heritage designation! This is horrible! ottawacitizen.com/news/local-new…

And what's worse is that this piece is buried inside so many other contentious and worrisome proposals that this isn't even a blip on the radar in local media, even though it desperately needs to be!!!
