Patrick Cripps being fined for “staging” is yet another example as to why it’s time for Michael Christian, Captain Collingwood himself, to be removed as MRO. Cripps was pushed square in the back. It’s a free. He is not obligated to downplay prohibited contact so to save McStay.

Nick does stuff that I think should be sanctioned & I lived the Ginnivan & Didak experience. It’s ok to admit your players do it, & that they cop their medicine when they do

@The_PrenderCast @steve_wars Again, both things can be true. He deserved the free kick, he didn’t have to make himself look like a goose by launching himself in to the air. It’s a bad look for a quality player. Got nothing to do with him owing McStay anything.

@davenclaw @steve_wars Because I disagree that a cut and dry free kick can be assessed as “staging.” He was infringed. It was a clear push in the back. He owes McStay nothing insomuch as lessening the force/contact so to make it less of a free kick.

@davenclaw @steve_wars How? If it’s a legit free kick, as this was, but a player embellishes the contact they’ve staged. So fine them. Blanket rule all over the game. If you accentuate contact to win a free kick, even if it is a free kick, you’ll be fined.

So fine every player who stages to win a free, then. Easy. High tackles, holds, pushes etc. If a player puts some mayo on the contact to make sure the umpire sees it - even if it is a free kick - that player should be fined.

@The_PrenderCast @steve_wars Staging is a fine. So if you admit he staged, it’s worthy of a fine. Can’t have it both ways. There’s throwing your head back or milking contact for a free then there’s launching yourself in to the stratosphere for one. If it were a Pies player you’d agree with the fine.

@The_PrenderCast @Kristiaaannb Sorry, mostly the Weitering the one. Agreed with the building around the others. But you’d know more about that than me. I don’t think the mix was ever right (outside looking in) and there were too many of the same type of player at the time.

@davenclaw @Kristiaaannb Not sure what you’re referring to - the Murph, Gibbs, Kreuzer comment; or the Weiters one. Either way, Murph, Gibbs and Kreuz weren’t our issue. We failed to adequately build around them. Kreuz’s ACL was also a disaster - he was turning into a serious player when he did it.

Collingwood’s age and experience stacks up almost the same as Carlton even with Pendles and Sidey pushing it up. I’d be far more worried bout your own list than ours. #Pies
