Walrus swam out of Lossiemouth harbour into the open sea ar 1245hrs

Some pics of the Walrus at Lossiemouth late afternoon/early evening today. Great to see so many families and young folk out to see it

@peediepuss Thanks Martin, the back flippers weren't clearly visible. It had some sores around the right shoulder area. I'm sorting some photos now and will post later this evening

@davepullan Hi Dave, tusk shape indicates that it's the recent Orkney animal; I was curious if it was still bleeding from its back right flipper??

I've never seen Canada Geese on the beach at Nairn before, just a few yards off to the right were 67 Pale-bellied Brents. I reckon the Canada in the middle might pass as a Todds if it were in a flock of Pinkfeet

@ParkyBirder Thanks for putting the news out Tom. Great bird. Although regular sites are well known further east along the Moray Firth they don't often reach the inner Firth.

I finally have a little time to go through some images from my trip to South America in February & March 2025. This El Yeso Valley in the Chilean Andes, and the main reason for going there - the amazing Diademed Sandpiper-plover; a stunning bird in a stunning location.
