@Molly03080580 Just like my grandpa. Even when we were in NJ, he had a little “Victory Garden,” in our backyard. He gave me my first carrot right out of the ground. And he didn’t believe in doctors either… never went.

Happy Grandparents Day!! I grew up with my grandfather, born in 1887. He was the youngest of 7 brothers. I loved his explaining what life was like before cars and planes. My connection to 3 centuries is a great blessing. Thank God for your grandparents today.
Pope Leo XIV@Pontifex

The celebration of the World Day of #GrandparentsandElderly is an opportunity to rediscover that the Church is called to be a mother to all and that at any age it is always possible to recognize ourselves as sons and daughters of God. @laityfamilylife

While deriding America’s strongest Mideast ally as a war criminal, Mamdani saved his welcoming smile for a supporter of the mastermind of the Oct 7th massacre…where terrorists filmed themselves raping and slaughtering children. A smile won’t cover that war crime.

Motaz Azaiza: “Whoever did not respond to Sinwar’s call to go out and engage the enemy everywhere has no right to mourn and boast about the manner of his death.” He met with Zohran Mamdani last week.

@adiosillinois My dad would have turned 100 this August. I still have my grandpa’s pocket knife, sent to him by a brother who was a sheriff in the Wild West! Btw, he never went to a doctor, smoked cigarettes, cigars and a pipe, liked bourbon, and died in his sleep at 91!

@DavidAsmanfox That’s shocking to me that your grandpa was born that far back. Mine were all born around 1914 which a full generation removed from yours. You ain’t that old David!

“Begone, Satan!" were the final words of Father Jacques Hamel, the Catholic priest martyred by Islamic State terrorists while celebrating Mass in France exactly ten years ago today.

What a hypocrite! He was sending minions to negotiate with Iranian thugs, fresh from their murdering 45,000 Iranian protesters…and he has the gall to say “I will not be welcoming war criminals to NYC.” He’s already welcomed war criminals to this city!!

Congratulations to @CLT_Exam board member Archbishop Salvatore Cordinleone! Pope Leo XIV just appointed him to the Supreme Tribunal (the highest court in the Catholic Church). Just yesterday I spent the afternoon in California wine country with the Archbishop, future Saint!!

@Pontifex The irony is it’s the simple who understand it and accept it most quickly and completely. At his end, I believe that’s why St Augustine said all his wonderfully complex writings on faith were “like so much straw.”

The Kingdom of God reveals its inestimable beauty in different ways, but calls everyone — men and women, young and old, rich and poor — to a profound renewal. Everyone is capable of understanding it and is drawn to it.

At the heart of Jesus’ teachings lies the mystery of the Kingdom of God, which today’s Gospel likens to treasure and a pearl (cf. Mt 13:44–52). The parables convey the surprise of those who find something far beyond what they could have hoped for, so much so that selling or leaving everything behind no longer seems a sacrifice, but a gain.

Firmly rooted in the Word of Jesus, reading the Gospel every day, never stop dreaming of a land where there is peace and fraternity, nor stop looking at the world with wonder, nor stop facing the future with the light of hope. Do not let anything or anyone steal your hope.

NEW: Tonight is the feast of St. Christopher, and I could not sleep, so I wrote about him. The Church knows almost nothing about him. What survives is the legend: he carried Christ across the water, out in the current, while Christ held the world. Pope Francis told the cardinals who had just elected him in 2013 that “our life is a journey, and when we stop moving, things go wrong.” Benedict XVI opened his first encyclical by saying that “being Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction.” Both men understand that faith isn’t a static set of doctrines. It’s a gift to everyone still traveling, and has Christopher as their guide. thelettersfromleo.com/p/on-the-feast…
