NC State fans need to relax about Gainey going after mid major players. State’s most beloved player recently DJ Burns came from Winthrop.

@jase__1032 It will be fine. Of course teams like Louisville are getting top players but we all kinda figure that they are spending more than others. I think some schools are figuring out this off season just how much some schools are really willing to spend.

@davidbarco90 I’m not disagreeing that guys can be good from mid major teams. There’s nothing wrong with adding pieces. But putting together a team of mid major players probably won’t work. Right now JG can’t even get the mid major guys for an on campus visit.

@jase__1032 Other players have been successful who came from JUCO or straight from mid major. I mean Steph Curry and CJ McCollum were true mid majors and look at them.

@davidbarco90 After a stop at Tennessee. That’s a completely diff thing than going after guys that were always mid major guys. Will some work? Absolutely. Not a starting 5 of them.

@Ump1224 Still have two on the roster that hasn’t entered the portal so he has 3. 😁 But, a lot of teams are in the same situation as State. Rather him be patient and get the players tha fit his system than just getting players quick so you have a team.

@davidbarco90 We’re not the only team going after mid majors, plus they’re good players. Im willing to give it a chance and will reevaluate after year 1.

@grae_visocan Also the market for these top P4 players weren’t in the millions yet either. Gainey is navigating a different market than Keatts was at that time. If DJ Horne was coming out of ASU now he would get close to what Juke Harris is commanding now in the market.
