I had a powerful insight over the weekend. While I have loved writing here, I haven’t always written about what I’ve loved. I’ve written about what I think people would expect from me - based on what I’ve done to date. It’s the exact same trap I’ve spent years trying to get high performers out of. You’re not your resume, past performance, or anything else. The only way I’m going to get out of it is to shift my attention away from what I think people expect and to what I want to talk about. The topics will be largely the same - I obviously really care about this stuff - but I’m hoping I can let go of the feeling I have about needing to be an “expert.” That’s what’s been holding me back.
