How Norway's oil resources came to be managed as a 'national asset' also has implication for current debates about climate risk and the future of oil, which I hope to further unpack in another context..

@davidjolier @PhilHubbard1 @fhpitts Thanks David. I think the right one has won the vote, but we may ask to tweak the position of the image as part of the reason I too like the left one is that there are no details obscured (as happens with the sun rays and clouds in the one on the right) Contents list is below :)

@PhilHubbard1 @fhpitts Perhaps, although this wasn't in mind when we first looked at images, this works as a nod towards discussions of post-work or work (as we know it) being/becoming different from the past? Mainly, though, we wanted to avoid the usual imagery of robots etc as book is wider in scope

Also, Norway still finds itself in a carbon lock-in that is reflected in the politics of the trade union movement. The labour movement continues to be divided between two competing visions for a just transition: 'transition away' from' vs 'transition within' fossil fuels.

This might change, of course. But atm, more effort has been put into making sure labour is at the table - ensuring that union representatives have the mandates, procedures and guides for engaging in these issues - than in pushing an independent, green agenda for labour.

We take a sober look at just transition initiatives in Norway and ask whether union involvement serves a dual purpose: 1) anchoring a just transition among working people while 2) proactively engaging in Norway’s compliance with its climate targets. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
