Donald Trump is swinging a wrecking ball at our democracy. I confronted him before when I voted twice to impeach him, and I’m running for Congress again so I can keep fighting for our freedoms and for Maryland families. Here’s why I’m returning to the arena:

A very powerful morning at Fellowship Friday with veterans, service members, first responders, and military families in Frederick. From hearing stories of sacrifice to having engaged conversations about healthcare, mental health, housing, and the challenges many veterans still face after serving, today was a reminder that supporting our heroes can’t stop when they come home. We are grateful for their service every day.

Absolutely outrageous. I was there on January 6th. I saw firsthand the chaos Donald Trump caused when his supporters stormed the Capitol and tried to overthrow a free and fair election. A year ago, Trump pardoned these criminals, and now he wants to pay them. Congress must do what it can to stop this. It’s almost laughable that the president can find funds to pay the insurrectionists but not to fund healthcare, build housing, or solve the issues actually plaguing Americans.

Robin and Dean Rose brought so many Frederick County community members together last night to discuss issues collaboratively - from education to criminal justice to making corporations pay their fair share. The thoughtful energy during these discussions inspires me every day, and it’s exactly why I’m running - to fight for exactly what voters across MD-06 believe in.

Saddened today to hear of the passing of former Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank, a brilliant and pragmatic Democratic legislator and true public servant. From passing the Dodd-Frank Act in response to the 2008 financial crisis to being a trailblazer for the visibility of the LGBTQIA+ community, he will be remembered for his legacy of courageously fighting for all Americans - even well after his congressional tenure. A beautiful evening in Frederick with County Executive Jessica Fitzwater and so many supporters and community members! We are proud of the way Frederick County has grown and thrived in recent years, and our communities have built momentum and are ready to join us in the fight.

I’m incredibly grateful to have the support of the @IAFFLocal1664. The safety and well-being of our emergency responders must be a top priority, which means we need a champion fighting for them in Washington. Each time they answer the call, they put their lives on the line for us. They deserve a fierce advocate who will push for updated federal policies, strengthen safety standards, fight for the latest technology and safety equipment, as well as expand mental health and wellness resources. Disgusted and horrified to hear of yet another shooting targeting people of faith at the Islamic Center of San Diego. Islamophobia has no place in our country, and no family should have to fear violence simply for gathering to worship in peace. My thoughts are with the victims and their families today. We cannot keep accepting these tragedies as normal.

Trump is finally saying the quiet part out loud: America First? It seems he only cares about himself. His policies are hurting families. Rising gas prices and grocery bills are just the beginning. While he focuses on his ego and his unnecessary conflict with Iran, I will be focused on you. This November, Democrats are committed to winning back the House and advocating for American families, but we have to make sure we send fighters to get the job done. It was a full weekend visiting supporters at community events across Montgomery, Frederick and Washington counties! Saturday morning first brought us to the engaged voters of the Northern Frederick County Democrats, then to exploring the 16th Annual Gaithersburg Book Festival with members of the City Council! On Sunday, we wrapped up a busy weekend in Frederick at our team BBQ. Showing up all over the district and hearing directly from you is what this campaign is all about, and we don’t plan on stopping!

Thank you to Dr. Yewande and Oyebola Oladeinde for opening their home to us this weekend! We had deeply engaged discussions - from the future of our schools to standing up against federal overreach. Frederick County is ready to join us in the fight!

Hagerstown showed up! What an enthusiastic, civically-engaged group we had stop by today! Only five weeks to the primary election - our office is open every single day! Let’s work together and finish strong.
