Donald Trump is swinging a wrecking ball at our democracy. I confronted him before when I voted twice to impeach him, and I’m running for Congress again so I can keep fighting for our freedoms and for Maryland families. Here’s why I’m returning to the arena:

Each one of these legislators understands what we’re up against in Washington, and they know that we need a fighter in Congress who will stand up to Trump and MAGA Republicans every single time. District 39 is blessed to have such a fantastic slate of leaders fighting for them in Annapolis, and I’m incredibly grateful to have their support. We will win this together.

We are building a winning team with one mission: taking the fight back to Washington and standing up for our communities. I’m thrilled to have the support of leaders and unions from every county in the Sixth District. These folks are on the ground every day fighting for the people they represent. They know that we always show up and deliver, and they know I’ll be their champion in Washington.

It was an incredibly moving afternoon commemorating ten years of S.O.U.L. — a group of local mothers supporting one another after losing children to substance use disorder. Over the past decade, they've grown from 5 moms grieving together into a community of families turning tragedy into action. It was a chance for me to honor the life of my nephew, Ian. But it was also a reminder of why it's so vital that we work together to end the stigma and support those around us who need a helping hand.

13 dead service members and 140 injured so far in Donald Trump's war with Iran. And Donald has the nerve to play golf. The unimaginable disrespect to our fallen soldiers and their families. Get off the course, Donald, and get to ending this unnecessary conflict.

The UpCounty Hub in Germantown works to fight food insecurity through providing surrounding communities with access to food, healthcare services, and other much-needed essentials. I joined MCPS Superintendent Dr. Thomas Taylor and a fantastic group of Montgomery Blair High School student volunteers for a tour of the facility and to put together food bags for community members. Thank you to Grace and Marko Rivera-Oven and team for having us, and for your endless dedication to Montgomery County!

This is reprehensible. Even worse, it’s coming from a sitting United States Congressman. This is extremely dangerous rhetoric, and part of a growing, disturbing pattern we're seeing from those in power. Maryland is home to a rich and vibrant Muslim community—our neighbors, colleagues, and loved ones. Our state is stronger because of them.

Every single action we take is slowing down this Administration's agenda. Whether it's in Annapolis or on the streets of our community, we are winning this fight and protecting our neighbors from ICE's brutality. One small step at a time. That's why we have to keep showing up, keep using our voices, and keep fighting.

Deeply concerned by reports of an attack at Temple Israel in Michigan. My daughter Michelle was named at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, which was the target of a deadly attack in 2018. These leaders know that our communities are best served when local and federal government work together, hand-in-hand. Throughout my time in Congress, I prioritized these partnerships and so did they — and that’s reflected in the growing list of fantastic public servants who are joining our team to take the fight back to Washington and deliver for our district. I couldn’t be more grateful for their support.

Today I went to Annapolis to testify in favor of my friend Matt Schindler's legislation to limit ICE’s ability to warehouse immigrants in Washington County and across our state. And tonight, we received the wonderful news that a federal judge has temporarily halted the construction in Williamsport while legal challenges continue. This is why our fight matters. We are winning. And we can't back down now.

What a great evening in Frederick County! Thank you to Lois Jarman for hosting us, and to Brad Young and the dozens of folks from the community who came out to hear how we’re building a winning team and taking the fight back to Washington. Nobody can sit on the sidelines right now — there’s too much at stake.
