Fritz Lang In 1924 the German film director visited New York and was influenced by the iconic skyscrapers. The following year he made 'Metropolis' and the design replicated New York plus an abundance of Art Deco.

Kapp Putsch On 13 March, an attempt was made to overthrow the social democratic Weimar Republic in Berlin. Led by ex-army officers and soldiers, nationalists plus monarchists, it eventually failed. (From the forthcoming novel Upheavel)

SOE The forthcoming novel has a chapter set in 1940 at Arisaig where people were trained in espionage during WW2. The iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct is on the same rail route to Arisaig.
