@MarioJoos Important to always prioritize connecting with your target audience over randos. Definitely adapt if the sentiment of your audience shifts, though. I’m annoyed by lava mic holding, but a specific audience associates it with the type of content they’re into, so it can be helpful.

Here’s why the "greenscreen + holding microphone" aesthetic is getting a bunch of hate (and what you can learn from this)
Part 1: Why is this aesthetic so common
The answer is fairly simple. A green screen will probably cost you around $100 to $200 and is extremely easy to store. In comparison, a proper set can cost significantly more. You need lighting, foreground, midground, and background elements, and even a lens that allows for that blurred background effect. So in short, it’s just more beginner-friendly.
Part 2: Why is it getting so much hate
Because this quality standard is so easy to get into, it allows a lot more beginners, who don’t have much budget, to start creating content with this setup. As a result, many viewers have started to associate this style with lower-quality, beginner creators, not necessarily because of what the creator is actually doing.
Part 3: What can you learn from this
When you’re creating content, it’s important to be aware of what people associate with low-quality content. This can be things like holding a small lav mic in your hand, using generic meme visuals in your edit, or starting with something like “Hey guys, welcome back to my channel.”
When you do these things, you make yourself more vulnerable to criticism, at least until you’ve built enough authority where people stop giving you shit because you’re pulling in strong views.
Part 4: Does this mean beginner and established creators can’t use this aesthetic anymore
Absolutely not. Just because there’s a vocal minority that hates this type of content, and because you might miss out on certain audiences by using this aesthetic, doesn’t mean there isn’t an audience that doesn’t care.
A lot of the time, people care more about what you’re saying than how it’s presented. That said, it’s still a good idea to upgrade when you’re ready. However, this aesthetic can appeal to viewers who actually like a more intimate vibe.

no hate to this guy in particular but we need to eradicate the “green screen + holding microphone” genre of youtuber and soon

@lmcx111 Syaoran was always deeply misunderstood 😮💨 As the next head of the Li clan, he saw the Clow Cards and the danger they posed as his responsibility, and he took that very seriously. It’s natural for him to be skeptical about a girl with no magical training 🤭

@daniel_mints @cluely Congrats on your decision and best of luck!

The internet will break if the animators do the meme at some point in the new Frieren season 😂

@davidtplays So so good. I’ll definitely check out Apothecary Diaries, may see if I can get the whole fam to watch 😌
Sincerely thank you for the suggestions!! 🩵
English

@pirategrayson Oh! Apothecary Diaries is a murder mystery series! Not a lot of those in anime that I’m aware of personally tbh. Silent Voice is 💔 but so good
English

@davidtplays You, sir, are magnificent. I have to watch some of these still :o
She’s a big murder mystery girlie, so I went with the first two I knew that came up on Netflix tbh 😅 I want to get her to watch the movie A Silent Voice too.
English

@pirategrayson 😭😂 I recommend anyone to start with movies like Your Name, A Whisker Away or Weathering with You. Then for anime series AD for people who like K-Dramas, Frieren for those who don’t mind fantasy, Your Lie in April for romance. Not a perfect list just what I go with usually 😅
English

@davidtplays I haven’t seen it yet, but maybe we’ll start that next hahah. I’ve heard good things of AD. Just trying to get her into the anime feel. Her response so far has been “how old are you” and “interesting medium” 😅🥲
English

@davidtplays totally unrelated but thank you for making my childhood. your gameplays back then were absolutely incredible to little me!

@tylerfleisch A 3-year-old playing with NBA players at full intensity is going to die wtf lmao
English

@mariojoos I would add that it’s not only about the audience, but also the context. The same audience watching high-paced YouTube videos might enjoy slower paced animes, for example. YouTube is (generally speaking) a low-trust platform that needs to reassure viewers quickly and constantly.
