Max Eberl's work is still viewed critically by some of the higher-ups. So critically, in fact, that a contract extension is uncertain and a separation is possible. Eberl's contract expires in June 2027. Internally, Eberl is accused, among other things, of spending too much money on contract extensions and signing fees. Players and agents have been raking in the cash at FC Bayern for years Another point of criticism: there's no genuine relationship of trust between Eberl and the club's powerful figures on the supervisory board. Eberl sometimes fails to engage with the board and informs them too late. He is accused of acting unilaterally. Furthermore, it is said internally that Eberl does not negotiate as hard as Rummenigge and Hoeneß used to, which ultimately costs Bayern a significant amount of money On the plus side, Eberl has made some good decisions since taking office in March 2024: the signing of Kompany, for example, as well as the transfers of Michael Olise, Luis Díaz, and Jonathan Tah. However, the club's bosses feel a lack of genuine cooperation. Internally, it is regularly heard that there are different factions within the club – and that could jeopardize sporting success in the long run. Should Eberl's contract not be extended, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and sporting director Christoph Freund would likely assume his duties. No new appointments are currently planned. Dreesen and Freund, whose contracts also expire in 2027, have a very good chance of being extended. Eberl, however, is once again under pressure. His future is to be decided at the supervisory board meeting in mid-August [@_kochmaximilian, @Abendzeitung]

Volker Struth (Julian Nagelsmann's agent) on why his client didn't come back to Bayern in 2024: "I had a feeling they [Bayern] would come back – and they did. Max Eberl called me, and then called Sascha Breese [Nagelsmann's second agent] and I met with him and Jan-Christian Dreesen in Munich Julian was never involved and had asked us to handle the situation very sensitively. In March, there were international matches in France and against the Netherlands, which went perfectly. The atmosphere before the Euros at home was really starting to build up. The fact that talks were even taking place could have jeopardized the tournament. Ultimately, that was a crucial reason why Julian didn't do it – especially since the dismissal was still fresh Uli Hoeneß called me too and said that the separation with Julian wasn't handled in a Bayern-like way and that he would welcome Julian back as coach" [@BILD]

Football just used to be so much better 🤩

Hoffenheim coach Christian Ilzer on the first penalty awarded to Bayern: "A clear wrong decision. There's no need to discuss it, everyone saw it. There was absolutely no foul. 75,000 people in the stadium were looking forward to a top match here. I feel a bit sorry for them that it turned into this game with one player less" Sporting director Andreas Schicker: "It's a pity that a top game was taken away from the fans in the stadium and at home by referee Stieler. In my opinion it was an offensive foul by Díaz. I have no understanding for that. We saw a game where many of the people involved on the pitch on both sides showed a great performance, but one [the referee] was overwhelmed"

FC Bayern withdrew their offer for Dayot Upamecano in writing today. The club expected a final decision today - and for them, the offer was no longer on the table. Upamecano himself later went to the club and said he wanted to extend. It was a power struggle between Upamecano's agent and Bayern, with the player caught in the middle. Nevertheless, Bayern will now allow Upamecano to sign a new deal. It's expected to happen this week [@Plettigoal, @SkySportNews]

• Reporter: "What did you make of their first goal? VAR had a look..." 🚨🗣️ Pep Guardiola: "Once again." • Reporter: "'Once again', what?" 🚨🗣️ Pep Guardiola: "Have you seen?!" • Reporter: "I've seen it!" 🚨🗣️ Pep Guardiola: "And?!" • Reporter: "I mean, it doesn't matter what I think does it..." 🚨🗣️ Pep Guardiola: "OK then, it's done." • Reporter: "No! What do you think? Tell us." 🚨🗣️ Pep Guardiola: "Nothing... Nothing, that's all." • Reporter: "You don't want to get drawn into it..." 🚨🗣️ Pep Guardiola: "Of course not. Come on. It's happened, once again... ONCE AGAIN! What can I say? Marc Guehi has the ball, he's been kicked from behind, and it's a goal... So what can I say? Nothing!"

The deadline set by Bayern for Dayot Upamecano is quicker than previously thought. The defender only has until Sunday to decide whether to accept Bayern's offer. The offer is only valid in its current form until February 1st. Bayern are offering €20m gross per year, a signing fee of around €20m as well as a €65m release clause valid from 2027. There are a few things that haven't been properly clarified yet - and Upamecano now has to make a quick decision before the deadline [@altobelli13, @cfbayern]

Leon Goretzka has said his goodbyes to his teammates. If everything goes accordingly the 30 year old midfielder will sign a contract at Atletico Madrid in the next 48 hours. 🚨
