BREAKING: 🇺🇸 Former U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton:
"It is shocking that Trump said no one informed him that Iran could close the Strait of Hormuz. I find it unbelievable that one of the fundamental pillars of geopolitical strategy in the Middle East was ignored. That was the first thing we assumed Iran would do. It is their main tool of global leverage. We are now seeing the consequences of a foreign policy driven by impulse rather than strategy.

@MLJHaynes @EdwardPentin I’m sorry but I’ll call him a spade if that moniker applies.

Cardinal Müller on Trump and Pope Leo XIV:
“it must be clearly stated that no one has the right to criticize the Pope when he faithfully follows the mission he received from Christ to bear witness to the Gospel of peace.”

@ChrisVanHollen These idiots I guess don’t realize President Trump is trying to eliminate an evil 47 year threat to us, our children, grandchildren and the whole world. Listen to them cry and moan and disparage the guy who’s trying to save their ass. Unbelievably small people.

@jasrifootball @The_Wenzel_Per Not a good list without Johnny Football at or near the top.

Joe, the Pope is only a man and no better or worse than the President as a human being and me for that matter. From his pulpit in the Catholic Chirch, the Pope jumped into the arena of politics and governing, overstepping in my opinion his place in the world. I wish the President would not disparage others but he grew up talking to Teamsters on construction sites. He is of that breed. I have no idea what his relationship is with Jesus Christ nor yours for that matter. I’m just worried with mine. I personally like Leo but I also like the President’s policies.

You are only a man @realDonaldTrump , and someday you will stand before our Lord Jesus Christ. You claim our Holy Father @Pontifex is weak, but it takes more strength to do what one should rather than simply what one wants. You intervened in Venezuela under the pretext of stopping drugs and criminals from entering our country, and under Nicolás Maduro you described the regime in terms of narco-terrorism. My qualm is the name games you play. Do you think you can simply legitimize actions by denoting terminology to suit your interest? This you did.
In the same way, you and Benjamin Netanyahu undermine the true meaning of justice through continued acts of unconscionable war crimes, all in the name of “self-defense.” But with the Lord, there will be no altering of words and their meaning; all that will be left is the truth of what really happened. You call the Holy Father weak because he calls for peace? What is weak is bombing children in Gaza in the name of national interest. What is weak is saying this is God’s country, yet by your actions you act as an enemy of the cross.
It is a shame that, in many respects, the COVID situation could have been handled better by the Church, but do you not consider the blunder of Operation Warp Speed? To this day, questions and debates about the long-term effects of the vaccines remain, and this was under your authority, so pluck the splinter out of your own eye.
Inspired by Christian charity, I implore you, repent. We are Christ first, not MAGA first. Our first allegiance is to God and His Kingdom. Are you God first or MAGA first? If God first, why do some of your actions betray that truth? If you come after the Church and the Holy Father @Pontifex_de, don’t think I’ll be silent. I only fear God.

@RpsAgainstTrump I think what President Trump was saying is…Leo, you stick to Poping and I’ll handle the governing.

Paul Coakley, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops:
“I am disheartened that the President chose to write such disparaging words about the Holy Father. Pope Leo is not his rival; nor is the Pope a politician. He is the Vicar of Christ who speaks from the truth of the Gospel and for the care of souls.”

Trump ATTACKS the Pope: “Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy…I don’t want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States”

@GuntherEagleman @LeaderJohnThune Some people have it and some people don’t. The Senate has the latter on their hands.

@BishopBarron The Pope ought to confine his ministry to that of Jesus and leave “unto Rome what is Rome’s.”

The statements made by President Trump on Truth Social regarding the Pope were entirely inappropriate and disrespectful. They don’t contribute at all to a constructive conversation. It is the Pope’s prerogative to articulate Catholic doctrine and the principles that govern the moral life. In regard to the concrete application of those principles, people of good will can and do disagree. I would warmly recommend that serious Catholics within the Trump administration–Secretary Rubio, Vice President Vance, Ambassador Brian Burch, and others–might meet with Vatican officials so that a real dialogue can take place. This is far preferable to the statements on social media.
I am very grateful for the many ways that the Trump administration has reached out to Catholics and other people of faith. It has been a high honor to serve on the Religious Liberty Commission. No President in my lifetime has shown a greater dedication to defending our first liberty. All that said, I think the President owes the Pope an apology.

@ABlinken @FareedZakaria How can this nincompoop possibly criticize anyone’s foreign policy. He has no credibility after piling up his poor record. I wish we could have competent public servants with no bias. Impossible, I guess.
English

President Trump is constrained by markets and munitions to find an off ramp in the war with Iran. Thus far, our tactical successes have come at the cost of strategic failure. See below for my conversation with @FareedZakaria

🚨University of Chicago Professor John Mearsheimer: Trump's policies have undermined US authority on the international stage.
"I think all of this will ultimately destroy Trump's presidency. I mean, he may remain in office for the rest of his term, but he's seriously damaged as a political figure.
But it's important to understand where we stand on the world stage today. Even before this war began on February 28, the Trump administration had already inflicted enormous damage on the US's standing in the world, largely because the president, a staunch unilateralist*, was destroying international institutions with no regard for the rules on which they are founded.
He ignored and disrespected international law and treated allies with outright contempt, especially Europeans. He even talked about invading Greenland."
English

@PeteButtigieg Don’t know about you but this guy grosses me out.
English

When he launched this war, the President vowed regime change and “unconditional surrender.”
What has he gotten? We went from Ayatollah Khamenei to Ayatollah Khamenei Jr. - and are now negotiating over a 10-point plan written by the Iranians.
This war has made America weaker - and less trusted on the world stage.

@0hour1 @lakemonstercl1 Good for her. With her loud mouth and outrageous behavior, she will probably fit right in.

@David__Osland The Red Army supplied with US tanks and the U.S. Army and its Air Corps in the West, you mean.
English

@lonestarhornss I went to both schools late 60s/early 70s…at A&M the Corps was marching and the American Flag was flying. I transfer to Texas and its hippies marching and gays everywhere. Loved being in both places but calling A&M gay with all that weird stuff in Austin is very rich.
English

It’s hilarious when you stop and think about it, because A&M could sweep us while beating us by 10+ every game and it still wouldn’t change the fact that they lost a championship they should’ve won, their head coach left for their rival (because it was simply the better job) and they have the gayest fan base in college
