Moriyama designed a landmark and an inspiration for science museums around the world. It regularly drew over 900k until Crosstown construction. It still drew almost 700k in 2022-23, despite COVID and a closed entry bridge. You’ve reduced it to a pop-up play area at a mall.
Kinga Surma@KingaSurmaMPP

It was wonderful visiting the @OntScienceCtr satellite location at Sherway Gardens and seeing so many children enjoying the exhibits, Towers of Tomorrow and Circus! This pop-up features exciting, family friendly, interactive activities guaranteed to inspire young minds!

.@CBCNews fact-checking claims from Sarkaria that only 1.2% of Torontonians commute by bike. Sarkaria continues to mislead the public, citing "conversations" with unnamed business owners as the reason for spending taxpayer money to tear out existing lanes youtube.com/watch?v=ScwcEV…

Well, a full year of Donald Trump might be exactly what Canada needs to open their eyes to fascism before our election. He’s a fukking nut and he won’t disappoint us. I’m sure most of Canada is shaking their fukking heads at the results this morning. It could work in our favour.

I was mad at first when I was spurred to commute by bike because Bloor-Danforth trains were often uncomfortably crowded before they reached Coxwell. Then — especially once I learned to dress for winter cycling — I learned to love my commute and gradually dropped about 30 pounds.

No clip-in shoes. No spandex kit. Just a middle-aged guy in Blundtstones, with a laptop bag over my shoulder, on part of my daily trip to/from work. Because it’s faster than the bus. Because it’s cheaper than operating and parking a car. And yes, because it makes me feel good.

@NoMoreBikeLanes @g_meslin Oh no rain and cold. Do you have an overcoat, winter boots or an umbrella? Wear the right clothing for the weather and anyone who has spent a winter here already has the right clothing

Dude, this is Toronto. I’m fifty years old and there hasn’t been a two-foot storm in my lifetime. There may be a day or two as cold as you describe each year. Most of the winter it’s a few degrees above zero, and the roads are dry and clear.

@michelemaherdsn @londo402 @fordnation I drove regularly along Bloor for many years for my work. There’s seldom 2 full lanes even during rush hour no parking periods. The same idiots now blocking bike lanes blocked the curb lane. Which if you recall was reserved for parking for most of the day.

@londo402 @fordnation I know perfectly well what they did on Bloor Street they took a lane a full driving lane where we had two lanes. We now have one. It’s a disaster.

We’re bringing sanity back to bike lane decisions to get drivers moving again. The 1.2 per cent of people who commute by bike shouldn’t be clogging primary roads for the over 70 per cent of people who drive. It’s just common sense.

@michelemaherdsn @fordnation They eliminated some of the space set aside for parked cars not a full time car lane. We can park our cars on those side streets.

@fordnation exactly! thank you! bike lanes do not need to be on primary roads where they eliminated a car lane for bike lanes that have almost no bikes in them!

@MackMcColl222 @acoyne Geez why do we bother going outside at all during the winter? Forget about skiing, hockey, pond skating, snowboarding, snowmobiling etc.: they’re really summer activities.

@acoyne Because it looks like, in a country buried in snow 6 months of the year, bikes are rather irrelevant for half the year. Which means people need automobiles. Has anyone on the woke left stuck in traffic cottoned onto this? I sorely doubt it. The woke virus is a brain killer.

Among other objections: how the hell is this any business of the province? If people in Toronto don’t want bike lanes all they have to do is vote for city councillors who are against them.
Colin D'Mello | Global News@ColinDMello

NEW: As first reported by Global News, the Ford government has begun the process of removing bike lanes from three Toronto streets: Yonge st., Bloor St., University Ave. globalnews.ca/news/10825146/… #onpoli

Why is @dougford really attacking our bike lanes? Because he’s rich and powerful and hates seeing cyclists like me pass him while he sits in his taxpayer-funded limousine, in the traffic he creates.

This video was filmed during Rush hour in Late October (temperature 8C). Most people who watch it would say it seems like there are more cars than bikes. There are actually exactly 15 bikes and 15 cars, despite bikes being allocated half the space.

The fact that the 401, 400, DVP, QEW, Gardiner (and many more) are regularly a bump-to-bumper standstill, and that none of them have bike lanes, should make it clear that bike lanes and bicycles are not the problem. #TOpoli #ONpoli #BikeTO

Alright Toronto, I have made some maps: 1. Primary Roads with Bikelanes 2. Secondary Roads with Bikelanes 3. Paths and trails that are for bikes As you can see, none by themselves are great for getting around the city...and you definitely can't make it home without a combination of them...#biketo #onpoli
