#OTD Oct. 15, 1935 Willie O’Ree was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick. On Jan. 18, 1958, O’Ree made his NHL debut with the Boston Bruins against the Montreal Canadiens, becoming the first Black player in NHL history. In 2018 O'Ree was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Our 3rd day of camp was so fun! The campers learned about DNA and even built their own models from candy! They also learned about financial literacy and how to be financially responsible. We can’t wait for what else camp has in store! #fyp #summercamp

#OTD July 29, 1870 boxer George Dixon was born in Africville, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Dixon was the first Black person to become a world boxing champion in any weight class, the first champion of more than one weight class, and the first ever Canadian-born world boxing champion.
