Life update: I graduated! Defended my dissertation last month, submitted final revisions a few weeks ago, and received my degree a few days ago. I’ll walk in the December ceremony @AmericanU. For now, I’ll continue working on my other big project: gestating! Due next month.

@swkasparek Yes, exactly! ❤️ The more queer clients I've worked with, the more I've discovered the joy of being my authentic self in (and out) of the therapy room. I'm not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm exactly the therapist some people want/need. Same for every therapist!

@dbtkiki Yessss ok I DO think that clinical disciplines may have an additional (and very thick) layer of heteronormativity capping the experience. It’s sad but makes me wonder if I’m right the clinical world. I would’ve been so grateful to have a therapist like me as a young queer kid.

ok this was a joke 3+ years ago, but 100+ talks, many papers, and a book on single-session interventions later, I can formally confirm that a forehead tattoo would be my best bet for getting this across 🙃
