Completely agree on the smoothness, instant response, and that insane on-demand torque. That said… those traits are fundamentally true for almost all electric motors 😄 dump the battery/capacitor bank fast enough, and the thing feels like it’s chasing escape velocity. The real differentiator is how well the manufacturer tunes that power delivery making it not just fast, but predictable, safe, and confidence inspiring for real-world users. But yeah, as you rightly said… I need a proper test drive to see how well M&M has translated that into practice, and how much better they've integrated and tuned the BYD battery packs. 🙌 Heard similar perspectives from quite a few known folks though interestingly, mostly from people outside tech, especially from non-tech and medical science backgrounds. That said, it’s genuinely good to see that for many, it’s bringing positive intent, good vibes, and even hope. But on the other side… for some especially within the very same domain (& CS ofc.) the experience has been deeply unsettling, even depressing… almost as if it latches onto the host like a leech, feeding on attention, time, and mental bandwidth and finally make the host dicardable like a completely drained and used up garbage. Interesting times.

For me LLMs have given me back the joy of using computers again. A similar joy that I felt when I began coding as a kid only to lose it to real life. I couldn't pursue it to build what I could think of, but now I can. It's a completely another thing that now I can't think of much to build, but every little thing that I CAN think of, I can build for myself and my family.

@dbytesmith I agree with that, but I have to say it wasn't just idle minds. Even the educational and motivational content has been weaponized with attention kidnapping slop, so nobody is safe.

TV and internet entertainment used to be a way to decompress. Over the last decade, consumption has become tiring in itself. What changed?

I strongly believe there are entire companies right now under heavy AI psychosis and its impossible to have rational conversations about it with them. I can't name any specific people because they include personal friends I deeply respect, but I worry about how this plays out. I lived through the great MTBF vs MTTR (mean-time-between-failure vs. mean-time-to-recovery) reckoning of infrastructure during the transition to cloud and cloud automation. All those arguments are rearing their ugly heads again but now its... the whole software development industry (maybe the whole world, really). It's frightening, because the psychosis folks operate under an almost absolute "MTTR is all you need" mentality: "its fine to ship bugs because the agents will fix them so quickly and at a scale humans can't do!" We learned in infrastructure that MTTR is great but you can't yeet resilient systems entirely. The main issue is I don't even know how to bring this up to people I know personally, because bringing this topic up leads to immediately dismissals like "no no, it has full test coverage" or "bug reports are going down" or something, which just don't paint the whole picture. We already learned this lesson once in infrastructure: you can automate yourself into a very resilient catastrophe machine. Systems can appear healthy by local metrics while globally becoming incomprehensible. Bug reports can go down while latent risk explodes. Test coverage can rise while semantic understanding falls. Changes happens so fast that nobody notices the underlying architecture decaying. I worry.

The hardware in old Chinese cloud accelerator cards never fails to impress me. If you go on Chinese ebay (idlefish) you can get a Xilinix UltraScale FPGA for ~$50 USD. For perspective, the same raw chip is currently ~$2,100 on Mouser.

Aur yahan haal toh yeh hai… sarkari EV buses ko bhi kahin-kahin diesel generator laga ke charge kiya ja raha hai 😄 Sochta hoon… isse achha diesel se bus seedha hi chalti. Kam se kam diesel → generator → battery → motor wale multiple energy conversions mein jo losses, complexity, aur paisa jal raha hai… woh toh nahi hota. 🎯
