Let me explain why HYBE/Belift has incentive to knock Enhypen down and extract Heeseung from the team.
IT ALL COMES DOWN TO MONEY
“Why would they hurt one of their most profitable groups?”
It’s because contract renewals with big groups cost more than starting a new group. If the group is weak at the time of renewal, the label has more leverage than the members. Their contract will also be cheaper to renew. It makes the members beholdened to the label.
What they are trying to prevent is a BP scenario, where each member cost the label insane amounts for group renewal, but they still went with their own individual labels for solo work.
Hybe/Belift is afraid of this happening. They’ve been actively pushing down the two members that have voiced their desire to show their own color. I believe that’s the primary reason why they have sidelined Heeki all of last year. They’ve both shown incredible earning potential as well.
Think about how both members received 1 Billion+ votes for D Awards. That is no small feat at all. It makes the label nervous as hell. They literally do not want them to get more popular and potentially leave the label for solo work. Only signing for group activities.
So what do they do? They want to make sure they secure Heeseung as a soloist before his contract is up. Heeseung’s subfandom is perhaps the most profitable out of all the subfandoms. He has incredible earning potential. His china bar alone can outsell both the entirety of US and Japan sales for Enhypen.
They’ve done it before, and the label is betting they can do it again.
By extracting him from Enhypen, they can build a strong soloist and prevent him going elsewhere, knock Enhypen down a peg the year they start contract renewal (thus making the renewal process cheaper) - it is killing two birds with one stone.
Also there is rumor that the new Belift bg is debuting either late this year or early next year. This could also be a way to phase out Enhypen for the next group if contract renewals goes south.
The proof of this theory is in how Belift/hybe has completely avoided promoting Enhypen in SK the past year. They’ve also actively fought against any solo endeavor, solo instagrams, and basically any opportunity that may make them harder to control in the future.
Having been the label on the opposite end of the NJs/MHJ debacle, they saw first hand what can happen when the artist is bigger than the label, which Enhypen definitely is. They built Belift from the ground up.
But Enhypen has always been humble. Always expressed their desire to stay together. Always praised and loved their staff. Meanwhile the label itself has done nothing but act out of fear of loss and being out of control. Enhypen does not deserve any of this snakey behavior.
That’s why I’m begging you to support all 7 Enhypen member and be loud for them. Make them the most successful before the renewal.
DO NOT BOYCOTT!
That’s exactly what the label wants! They’ll be more than happy if the fandom shrinks.
If at this time we cannot bring Heeseung back into the group because the label is a snake, then the best chance we have is to make Enhypen so successful that they gain autonomy and power back through their own negotiations when they get to the renewal.
Always support all 7 members. They themselves love each other the most, and I am certain they are also working hard towards the day they can reunite again as one team.
