The activated RFK campus will build on our reputation as a green city with the #1 park system in the nation.
With 30% of the campus dedicated to parks and open space, here's a glimpse of some of the proposed tree canopy you'll find lining the walkways and throughout the campus:

While the tornado watch has been lifted, we’re still monitoring for the potential of downed trees. If you see a downed tree in public space, please report it to 311. We prioritize hazards that impact major roads, critical facilities, and trees that have fallen on homes.

When severe weather like today’s storms threatens the District, emergency alerts can provide critical information in real time.
Wireless Emergency Alerts are sent directly to mobile phones to warn of imminent threats such as tornadoes, flash floods, and other urgent hazards, even if you're not signed up for AlertDC.
This quick tutorial shows how to enable emergency alerts on an iPhone so you receive those warnings when they are issued.
Go to the "Settings" section of your phone, then "Notifications" and "Emergency Alerts". Turn on the Alerts.
Staying informed is one of the most important steps you can take to stay safe.

Your safety comes first. Plan ahead, arrive at your destination before the storm begins, and avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather. If you see roadway flooding or hazards in public space, report them to 311 so crews can respond quickly.

Severe storms are expected to affect the District today (3/16) and could bring damaging winds and possible tornadoes.
Take time now to identify where you would shelter if a Tornado Warning is issued.
The safest place is the lowest level of a building, in an interior room away from windows. Avoid large open rooms like cafeterias or auditoriums.
If storms move through while you are commuting, be prepared to go inside a nearby building rather than staying in your vehicle.
Stay weather aware this afternoon and evening and monitor alerts from AlertDC and the National Weather Service. Make sure emergency alerts are enabled on your cell phone.
