@Stevoswervee Do you have the info for where the top 25 finishers OA last year in OC and Main were at the break? I'm curious. Maybe that can be your next blog if you wish to accept the challenge

The Gildz OC ASB checkpoint: OC’s Overall: Top 50: Don’t even look at league standings. You’re likely sitting in 1st anyways by a decent margin. Even if you’re in 2nd by some chance, it’s 100% focus on overall categories and where you need to attack. Maintain laser focus on the deficient categories only. You will need to make uncomfortable sits/drops in your move to the top. Embrace the uncomfortable. Welcome the calculated risk, don’t avoid it. 50-100: Very alive and sitting pretty obviously. Maintain but stay aggressive. Crucial month for this tier. Especially at the lower end. You want to mix in aggression here. It’s time to start getting a bit reckless and embrace the risk. You still have a lot of teams to jump with a lot of shared players ahead of you. This is where im gambling on 2 steps every week especially if I’m low in wins. You need to sacrifice your ratios if your goal is to win this thing. I’m still not looking at league standings here yet. 100% Overall focus. 100-150: Still live for overall. But barely. This is your moving month tho. Shoot for top 50-75 to start August. Aggression is key in this tier. These next 3-4 weeks will either make or break you. Same focus and attack as the overall categories in tiers above. Aggression factor here is crucial. It’s now or never. 150-300: Your likely dead for the overall especially on the lower end of this tier. Teams on higher end of range here still alive. See above. If you’re falling towards low 200’s, you’re toast. You’re still likely 1st in your league or 2nd at worst. Still shoot for overall but at 50% focus. Your goal is mainly to win this league now. 300-750: Absolutely dead for overall ⚰️. Way too many teams to jump with way too many teams sharing same players. You’re likely anywhere from 1st-5th in league depending on league strength. 100% focus on league only. Your team is good, just not good enough. 750-1,000: Way dead for overall. Likely sitting 5th-8th in league depending on league strength. 100% focus on your league only. Cashing is still very much on the table. 1,000+: See above. You’re playing to cash only here. Still can cash if you’re in a weak league and you run pure. Remember to play defense in this tier If you have contenders elsewhere and there are teams in this league at the top of leaderboard. Look to block said owners for any big call ups/adds. You’re playing defense in this league to protect your crown jewels. Otherwise continue to put more focus on other contending teams. The Main breakdown coming soon.. Your boy. #WonTime🏆

Well isn't this a fitting way for the first half to end. Devin Williams just blew his second consecutive save for the Mets, spoiling Zach Thornton's much-deserved first career victory. Francisco Lindor also played a role with a fielding error on a play that could have ended it.

@deadpullhitter Rice had just about the most unimpeachable profile one can have. As a non catcher playing catcher, in freaking Yankee Stadium. Ashamed I don’t have more

@KO_Reporter To say that Ben Rice wouldn’t have had the ability to play every single day, even with Stanton in there is where your mind is being limited. You dont keep this talent on the benxh

@deadpullhitter Like I say, I DRAFTED BEN RICE! I like the player. But I view the injury to Giancarlo Stanton that opened the door to him being an everyday player as one of those "good breaks" I caught this season, rather than a sign of my genius. That's the crux of the debate here.

Yes, I pray for the moments for when in my drafts people were taking Ben Rice later when Paul Goldschmidt was signed. It’s my experience from my drafts and ADP. I like then the market shifts because of a perceived slight to someone’s value. You can call it whatever you want, man I’m not gonna change your mind and I really don’t give a shit either. Haha.

@deadpullhitter You said you "pray for several of these moments" as if it was criminal to account for Goldy's presence in assessing Rice's value. But it really wasn't because I don't think people really overreacted to it. Like I say, straw man.

Ok. And those people still got a good catcher but lost out on the better player. A player with another position eligibility as well. Rice has 21 more RBi, 14 more runs, 9 more homers , a better average. He was the 4th catcher taken in Main Events and has earned $7 more dollars on the player rater than the second highest earning catcher

@deadpullhitter I'm folding in Shea Langeliers b/c I legit think that's only way people factored Goldschmidt into their draft process: Do I take Rice or Langeliers? I don't think a lot of people were scared off Rice by Goldschmidt. His ADP was still quite high. People just nudged Shea past him.

@KO_Reporter I dont even know why youre folding in Shea Langeliers. This was not about him. Ever. You decided to drum up some crazy short story about what my original tweet was about. Are you that bored with your life that you need to do that to other people?

@deadpullhitter You can call that "process" if you want. I'm certainly not going to claim that Stanton getting hurt was unpredictable. But if Stanton never gets hurt, it would've been interesting to see what might have happened. Maybe Goldy would have just gathered splinters. We'll never know.

“Oh it seems like ages ago but I remember those “Goldy resigning hurts Rice” days. You just pray for several of these moments each drafting season” This is trashing people? Or merely pointing out a buying opportunity? I mean seriously? This is trashing people? You’re the one who came into my comment spinning a ridiculous story about what I was trying to say

@deadpullhitter My point is that you trashed people for taking Goldy's presence into account. But Goldy's presence did have an effect on his playing time. Now, you are sort of changing your tune a little to say he "didn't need volume." So, now you're agreeing that Goldy nicked his PT? Confused.

@KO_Reporter The fact youd thought i was being “haughty” is wild to me. But whatever pleases you No shit Shea Langeliers worked out. I dont even know what your point is. Next time you want me to give a whole update of the catcher position in one tweet? Enjoy your day there!

@deadpullhitter The guy is definitely a stud. I don't think it was horrible process. (And I wasn't someone who faded him, to be clear.) I think most people were using the Goldy factor to differentiate between catchers in the same tier, and in case you haven't noticed, Langeliers has worked out!

Kris- this is a mere mention of how bad the process was to fade Ben Rice because of Paul Goldschmidt (as my tweet reads). Call it a victory lap if it makes you sleep better tonight. Nothing wrong with being happy about rostering one of the best hitters in baseball in a lot leagues. I mean, we can still do those things right? You know, be happy about things? -he is the number two ranked player on the Fangraphs player rater. -he did not start only 4 times in April Rice never needed "volume" (3rd best PA/HR for over 200 PA's) to be one of the best targets but many insisted that he would sit enough to warrant a bad pick at his cost and therefore dropped in drafts. he has 41 HR since last years ASB and the 6th best wOBA in baseball. The guys a stud

@deadpullhitter I wouldn't be too haughty with this victory lap. He *was*, in fact, sitting a lot vs. lefties in April. Sure, his bat has helped make him an everyday guy, but injuries to Stanton, Judge aided that cause, too. (I say this as a Rice fan, who drafted him.)
