@literaryeric I write "I think" constantly and then go back and edit it out. Including in emails. I assumed it's because I am a woman and was trained to be under-assertive/deferential/not bossy. But maybe it's just a thing.

Also, "I think" is rarely called for. Don't write, "I think we should meet Wednesday." Write, "We should meet Wednesday." We can tell you thought it because you just wrote it.

I am just an editor, in front of a writer, begging you to never use a dictionary definition in anything you write. Never, ever. As in, "Webster's defines leadership as...."

This important book brought so many recipes (and the historical context for those recipes) to Western/English-speaking readers. These older, b&w, text-heavy cookbooks have such a different feel than the shiny toys of today’s cookbooks. Thoughts? #claudiaroden #cookbooks
