@MColvinMcKenzie Life is way too short. Follow @deblesko, go make yourself a couple of pieces of toast with butter and vegemite and radically accept & love yourself, just as you are.

we can have good faith discussions about food systems and the ways that food systems may impact weight without positioning fat people as punishment for systematic issues. even in a world where everyone has access to high quality, nutrient dense food, fat people will exist.

Eating as little as possible each day isn’t something we should see as an achievement or something to aspire to. It could be an eating disorder.

You don’t have to lose weight, love your body, or even love yourself before you start dating or doing anything else you’ve put off. Stop “weighting on weight” and live the full life you deserve in the body you have now!

@drmuhlheim This was my issue when I was in treatment. They promised. And their promise was broken.

When providers reassure clients with eating disorders that they won’t get fat in treatment, it’s reinforcing the idea that being fat is the worst thing they can be. We can do a whole lot better than use fatphobia to comfort our clients.

Every time I get on a plane, I feel absolutely sick to my stomach — terrified that the person sitting next to me will take a picture of me and I’ll end up being mocked on the internet. Put your anger on the airlines for making seats smaller & smaller.

I’m thinking about clients that were withheld lifesaving surgeries & told by doctors not to come back unless they get bariatric surgery. It is BARBARIC to force someone to get an elective surgery in the name of “health.”It has deadly risks &no one should be coerced into it. 💔

Healthcare harms fat people w/weight stigma, weight cycling & inequalities, then blames fat bodies for the harms that result, then uses those harms to justify more weight stigma, weight cycling & inequalities. We need a system that want to support fat people, not shrink us.

it’s okay to acknowledge how your body feels at different weights. but it’s also important to parse apart how much of what you’re feeling is coming from your weight itself vs the beliefs you have internalized about what your weight says about you.

Being honest about the near total lack of efficacy of weight loss interventions is not being "biased against weight loss." I can't ethically recommend a so-called healthcare interventionthat that almost always results in weight cycling, which is independently linked to harm

The diet industry likes to say “you can’t diet, you have to have a lifestyle change” by which they mean “you change to a lifestyle where you diet all the time." The truth is that whatever you call it, intentional weight loss fails the vast majority of the time.

The diet industry likes ot claim that “people regain their weight because they went back to their old habits” which is a pretty disingenuous way of saying “starvation is unsustainable" and "weight loss attempts lead to physiological changes that cause weight regain."
