We’ve shared quite a few nocturnes over the past five years, but this one from the hugely popular @CraigEverett20 is a real standout for me 😍👏 Nearly Home by Craig Everett

Of all the photographers’ work we’ve shared, Bill Brandt’s has always stood out for me. This poignant scene of children caught in a pocket of light against a dark, brooding industrial background has long been a personal favourite. Halifax, 1937 by Bill Brandt (1904-1983)

I've shared this a couple of times. It's from a little while ago, but this is a house in Lerwick, Shetland, close to where I grew up. Every year, the family who live here faithfully puts a Christmas tree in the bay window of each floor, and it's just magical!🎄 Sorry it's blurry

Love this one Paul Cornoyer (1864-1923) Just beautiful. I’ve posted work by this artist before. One whose work I’m fond of. The star on the top shining out for all to see

Those of a certain age will, of course, remember ole Ernie, “… drove the fastest milk cart in the West!” 🎶 That’d be the West Midlands in Austin Moseley’s case 😉👍 Needs a tap to fully appreciate 🤏 Ernie’s Early Round (Oil on Board) by Austin Moseley (1930 - 2013)

The end of British Summer Time today with darkness descending earlier brings to mind Peter Brook’s ‘Lighting-up Time’ as he walks Shep in Bradley Wood, the orange glow from the lamp catching the eye and creating a welcoming feeling in what might otherwise be an austere painting.
