Now that Arsenal have won the league, I fully expect the following chain of events to unfold… The Banter Era is finished. Cooked. Cremated. Buried at sea. All the recycled crap like “bottlers”, “where’s the PL trophy?”, “professional bridesmaids” can finally be retired alongside floppy disks n Gary Neville’s managerial credentials For at least two months 🤣😅 I also expect football social media to become less tribal, less intellectually radioactive n slightly more nuanced. Which, admittedly, is like expecting smugglers to start filing honest tax returns But one hopes 🤞 Arsenal will shortly become the biggest club in England financially. The prize money, sponsorships n global pull are about to go nuclear Already almost there while rivals were busy holding “net spend” TED Talks. Every elite young player on the planet will now happily donate a kidney, two molars n possibly an aunt to play for Mikel. Recruitment under Berta n Mikel is about to become deeply unpleasant for the rest of the league. When the lad wt the best hair at the dance also has money, structure n solid football… everyone suddenly starts returning texts And yes, buying stars doesn’t always guarantee success. Liverpool proved that this season. But having elite players generally helps. Ask City. And of every beautifully airbrushed, financially mysterious, definitely-not-tainted season of theirs Mikel Arteta will be a highly paid corporate speaker on the lecture circuit; mostly about lessons in creating company culture n astute man management of massive egos I also expect acquisitions of brown labradors to skyrocket n more olive trees to be planted in office gardens Musicians will be in demand for signature company tunes As for the professional Arsenal grief merchants… Neville, Carragher, Deeney, Schmeichel, Evra, Obi Mikel n the permanently concussed circus of engagement farmers… My thoughts n prayers. Also pick a finger hand 🖐️ Their entire cottage industry was built on Arsenal failure. Now they’ll have to discover new personality traits at the age of 50+ Therapists across Britain are also preparing invoices for them as we speak. AFTV may finally have to pivot into cooking real content because outrage doesn’t quite hit the same when the club is lifting shiny things. And hopefully Pietersen can finally stop performing emotional gymnastics every time Chelsea lose. Watching a grown man, once legend, twerk against his own declared football club should qualify as performance art Most importantly… I expect Arsenal to now stay around the top. This doesn’t feel like a one-night smash-and-grab title This feels like the beginning of one of those deeply irritating eras where your club is permanently in the conversation for every major honour while rivals convince themselves “next season will be different” While I am the eternal optimist, I’m not using words like ‘dynasty’ for a bit Logical that Mountain Dew will sign on as sponsors of the club (at least in India) “Darr ke aage jeet hai” Last but not the least, Mikel Arteta, the Kroenkes… we thank you We Believed… #COYG

A little while ago, while driving through a village in Assam, an elderly man unknowingly stepped in front of my car. Perhaps he didn’t hear it approaching, perhaps he simply didn’t notice. I stopped & let him pass. What stayed with me though was what happened next- he...++

Open letter to our Hon’ble CM Sirjee @himantabiswa Sirjee, today as you take oath to the seat of the Chief Minister of our state #Assam I would like to congratulate you on your astounding victory. I would like to introduce myself as that common woman whose name you repeatedly uttered during your election stint - Sujata Gurung Chowdhury.  Without knowing anything about me or my life, my food habits, my culture, my religion, my ideology or perhaps even me as a person you called me a “beef eater” a non sanatani, an anti India communist and the works! All because you had a narrative to build, an election to win and some rhetoric that would get you some slapstick moments of glory. Your only connection with me was my daughter contesting the Assam Assembly elections 2026 as a candidate from the opposition alliance #kunkichowdhury Many asked me to place my clarification on these allegations made by you but I did not at that moment because clarifying before a political hound does not make any sense. Now that you are Chief Minister and as an elected representative of the people you are answerable to me and to the public so this message to you.  Your allegations have been made with malafide intention, it has assassinated my character in public and has been defamatory. Further the photograph that you have publicized of me eating beef is false. This has been clarified by the founder and owner of the museum where this photo was taken at Denver. This matter is of almost no relevance to a Chief Minister and a powerful political leader like you but for me a common man this is life changing, I have not only been defamed in public but the photograph of my minor children being released in public domains have  endangered their lives. I have people asking me not to write on social media, not to take photos of my travels, some even pass snide remarks as to whether what I have served them in my home contains beef or not!  What does these matter to you Sirjee, a common man’s life is forever in danger so be his child’s life too. A common man is forever facing snide remarks so be it. The other allegations of being anti India and a communist, a simple retweeting of an article published in a news portal does not make someone anti India or a terrorist. I have more than 5000 books in my personal library and have read more than half of these, these are books on different cultures, ideologies, personalities of the world with varied opinions and thoughts! Does my reading these books make me an anti India or a terrorist? Well regarding the communist bit as the saying goes, “ if one is not a communist at 25 you do not have a heart and if you are not a capitalist at 35 then you don't have a brain!” And I am 56 now and almost all my writings are of “eons ago,” eons for the uninitiated means “many years ago.” Hon’ble CM Sirjee today as we leave the election fever behind us and now that you have taken up the mantle and responsibility of the state of Assam and its citizens as it's undisputed leader, I would like to tell you as a common citizen of the country and the state that this country of ours is one where the mind is without fear and the head is held high, where every citizen has the right to live, the right to choose their own religion, culture, their food habits, their ideology and that this country is as much ours as it is yours. You may have won the election and the war of the rhetorics but Sirjee do remember that the battle is still on and will go on as long as the common man like me keeps breathing because it is this breath of the public, the common man that drives your pulse and the pulse of our leaders. Jai Hind!  Yours sincerely, Sujata Gurung Chowdhury A Hindu by birth and culture and not by politics. NB: Hon’ble CM Sirjee it may be noted that your defamation suit will be for an amount of Rs. 1.00/- (Rupee one only) alongwith a public apology from you.

@Parashar_kalita Sure.. football is only valid when it is end-to-end chaos?? Defensive organisation, tactical discipline and winning ugly are also legitimate ways to play the game.. Not every match has to be a goal festival for it to be ‘proper’ football.

Today HBS exposed his Brahminist mindset-trying to impose North Indian cultural norms and dictate what people should eat. So according to him, instead of judging a candidate on merit or manifesto, we should focus on their family & what they eat.

Assam CM targeting a young woman’s mother over social media posts instead of debating real issues? This is low, even for Himanta Biswa. Kunki Choudhury is a young candidate bringing youthful energy to Assam politics and deserves a fair contest, not family mudslinging

If you are 30+, consider incorporating video games into your routine. As individuals move into their 30s and beyond, certain cognitive functions, particularly processing speed and working memory, may gradually begin to decline. Research in cognitive psychology suggests that engaging in interactive digital games can help stimulate neural pathways, improve reaction time, enhance problem-solving ability, and support cognitive flexibility.

Zubeen Garg Funeral This is not just a funeral procession. This is an inheritance of love ! This is Assam teaching its youngest children how to mourn an icon, and in that mourning, how to belong. From Jorhat to Tezpur, from Dibrugarh to Dhuburi, from Sadiya to Nalbari - in small towns and faraway villages, people are standing still before television sets, streaming on their phones, whispering to one another that this is the end of something vast and precious. Across these places where songs once carried through tea gardens and ferries, where Zubeen’s voice was part of wedding nights, Bihu, Puja and protest marches alike, there is now only one shared recognition: he was the last icon who could speak to all Assamese people at once, across caste, creed, dialect, generation. And today in Guwahati, in the shadow of Borjhar to Kahilipara, there is an unprecedented sea of humanity. For a generation that never learned to walk in homage, look at them now, shoulder to shoulder, dusty feet moving in step with grief. For a generation who never paused for Republic Day or Independence Day broadcasts, see them glued to every channel, every livestream, as though history itself were unfolding. For a generation raised on swipes and silence, see them gathering in clusters around grandparents, hearing about the Assam Agitation, about Bhupen Hazarika’s cortege, about funeral marches of another millennium. For a generation accused of living only in pixels and emojis, see them today trading hashtags for footsteps, likes for folded hands, screens for the streets. This is not just mourning, it is Assam’s rawest truth revealed - that when we love, we love without measure, that when we lose, we do not hide our loss. We flood highways, we climb rooftops, we cry together. No AI prompt, no algorithm could have scripted this grief; it is real, uncontainable, as wide as the Brahmaputra itself. And as the coffin reaches Kahilipara, the surge is thunderous - the crescendo of an ending. For those who remember Bhupen, for those who grew up with Zubeen, and for those who now learn for the first time what it means to lose someone who carried your language and your soul in his voice, one truth rises above all: this is the end of an era. Assam will have more singers, more stars, more celebrities, but never again an icon like this. Zubeen Garg was the last icon of the Assamese people in this millennium.

To understand Zubeen Garg's legacy in Assam, watch the recent biopic Bhaimon Da. The movie was full of celebrity cameos, but his was the one that drew the biggest cheers from the crowd! REST IN PEACE LEGEND! #zubeen
