Rick Pitino has now taken four programs --- Providence, Kentucky, Louisville, and St. John's --- to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament. The Red Storm get Duke next week in Washington D.C. St. John's fans are now an Amtrak ride away from a Sweet 16 game.

Yeah he may not recruit the portal at a high level. He may not recruit freshman at a high level. He may have horrible substitution patterns. He may cry like a baby in press conferences.
But he makes sure these guys know it’s all about the name on the the FRONT of the jersey. That’s what matters.

It’s really hard to hear people give the “if their two best players didn’t get hurt” excuse for Kentucky.
Their best player/transfer was literally coming off of a torn ACL late last season and they still spent a ton of money to bring him in! That’s a roster choice not bad luck.

There's disincentive to leave in every profession. Pro athletes have buyouts. Coaches have buyouts. Most industries have non-competes. Making transfers sit a year isn't the answer. But transfer fees? That might work, and it would give mid-majors some money to go out and add players/retain them. Buyouts written into multi-year contracts would help too, especially if schools actually have the balls to enforce them.
