You don't need the background or shortcut to the Application folder even, developers just tend to add it for people not familiar with the concept of dragging the app to that folder.

@deceze @IonaItalia Unsupportable statement. If Chris had stayed home, others would have ventured. Vikings settled in NA for a time, and Breton and Basque fishermen and whalers likely knew of NA before Columbus. Public investment was not key to NA.

@Daedalus6 @IonaItalia *Eventually* there's a hard deadline for this solar system. That's still some 5 billion years in the future, but still, it exists. Whether we still exist then is anyone's guess. Maybe not. Probably not. But we certainly won't if we stay home.
