Just attended the vigil for Yves Sakila's death. To see the dignity of the poor mourners is quite something. “No more violence” they chant. To the Irish racists who have taken glee at this awful tragedy, you’re the absolute shame of Ireland.

As he attempted to make his getaway, he allegedly knocked over and injured an elderly man in his 80s, who was hospitalised with a fractured rib. Also on the show after 12pm The Revenue Commissioners have written to 34,000 family carers, informing them that Carer’s Allowance and Carer’s Benefit have always been taxable. From 1 January last, the allowance is now taxed in real time. However, carers who did not declare it as income in previous years are being told they may face back-tax bills, which in some cases could be substantial. Revenue says affected carers should contact them to make repayment arrangements. Carers are pushing back, arguing they work a 24-hour job for: •€270 per week (caring for one person under 66) •€308 per week (caring for a person aged 66 or over) They question why they should now face back-tax demands on an allowance they rely on to survive. Revenue maintains the payment is taxable income and is subject to means testing. Some online commenters argue: “Why should carers get a free pass when everyone else pays tax?” 👉 What do you think?
