The situation for people held at the Manston detention camp is very bleak. No access to phones, lawyers and without the support of NGOs. Young children and families locked up amidst an outbreak of diptheria and MRSA.

Dozens of young children are being held at Manston detention camp in Kent. Mothers, fathers, children and babies from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and elsewhere. We went today and heard them chanting for their freedom. This is persecution. FREE THEM AND CLOSE IT DOWN.

The National Front used to say in the 1970's "send them back to Africa." In 2022 it's actual govt policy. The 30 years of anti muslim culture wars to dehumanise & justify genocidal "humanitarian interventions" enabled the far right to capture power in various Western capitals.

Today, on the anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire, an act of gross intentional structural violence by a state that has built its wealth on the premise that Black lives do not matter, we fight against proposed deportations to Rwanda. There is a colonial through-line here.

I work full time in university admin and I do not earn enough to afford the rising cost of living. I pay 42% of my salary on rent, and my other bills are rising while my wage doesn’t. I am constantly sick with stress over money while the VC earns £368k per year.
