Why is our president this greedy? I’ve just watched a Citizen TV report, and the allegations are deeply troubling. It is reported that William Ruto and Felix Koskei are pushing for control of The Nairobi Hospital. According to the report, they allegedly summoned the hospital chair and demanded around 7 slots on the board, enough to secure a majority and influence key decisions. The president’s name has reportedly been mentioned directly in the matter. The report further claims that if those positions were not given to them, arrests would follow. And now we are seeing a doctor arrested in Muthaiga in connection with this dispute. Such things should anger any Kenyan who believes institutions must remain independent. Then you hear people shouting “TUTAM.” But if this level of alleged state capture is happening today, one must ask a simple question: What would another five years look like? Leadership is not about controlling every institution in the country. Enough is enough. Hands off Nairobi Hospital.
