Dropping big tech is a priority for me this year. Today I accomplished a huge goal: drop Google Photos. I've finished building my #Immich server. It offers all the features I need from Google Photos, allows me to keep my data private, and removes another monthly subscription. 👍

@AskYoshik You could try Noodle Gallery. It's a fork of Immich I'm working on, with a long list of improvements. If you're worried about being stuck with self hosting, I built in the option to host your photos on s3-like storages, so it could lessen the burden. opennoodle.de

my vietnam trip filled up my storage with photos and videos and for the first time i actually paused before just paying for google photos again, mostly because of privacy so i went down the rabbit hole of self hosting and found two solid options, ente and immich, ente looks more polished, immich feels easier to deploy and manage now i'm stuck comparing instead of just picking one anyone here actually switched out of google photos and stuck with self hosting long term or did you go back help me decide before i over engineer this😅

@AutoTraderSA More than 1 year later, this is still an issue. Wow. Perfect example for everyone why it's not safe using the same password on multiple sites. Autotrader stores your password in PLAIN TEXT and even e-mails it to you after you register. Shocking

@AutoTraderSA You might want to check out your website's security. Whenever a user registers, his password is e-mailed to him in plain text.
