@scrufacejean I’d say the Kendrick vs Drake back and forth was the last time Hip Hop felt like Hip Hop. It pitted an artist who 100% understood the culture and assignment against what the uncultured outsiders believed to be the best thing in Hip Hop. We’ve been on the up since

@EminemDetroit88 No, in fact I’d go as far as to say we’ll never get another generation of rappers who have the same calibre of skill as the likes of Eminem, Jay-Z and Nas

In The Boys, Antony Starr says he improvised the follow up question “And what’s the box made of, Deep?” “There was a scene in season 1 where the Deep had found at the bottom of the ocean a zinc chest. And before filming I told Eric, “Let’s make it like a school presentation.” So I said “What can I see through, Deep?” “Zinc, Homelander.” “What’s the box made of, Deep?” And Eric did a pause. And they kept it in the pause. And he goes “Zinc?” “It was just so dumb. It was just such a great relationship.”

Charlamagne tha God reacts to Drake breaking Michael Jackson's Billboard record, saying a lot of Drake's music doesn't have the same "cultural impact" as Michael Jackson's: "This is why I say numbers lie. 'Cause does Drake have the numbers? Yes. Does Drake have music that will stand the test of time? Yes. But, we know that a lot of the music that Drake makes does not have the cultural impact of an 'Off the Wall' or a 'Thriller.'" (Via The Breakfast Club)

Vanilla Ice & MC Hammer outsold EVERYONE so if that’s your metric, cool. That is not how everyone look at talent and skills. I see the angle though.😆

So you've never listened to Sticky Fingaz before and the first time you hear him rap is when he outshined Eminem in shock value acting as psychotic as possible..... I get the initial response, but leaping to that conclusion is just wrong. Encourage you to actually go listen to his music before making assumptions. Sticky ain’t for everyone but he’s one of the greats in a lot of people’s books. One of the most underrated storytellers of all time.

Rick Rubin, who produced 99 Problems, talks about the creative process with JAY-Z "Jay will only be there when he needs to be there. And if he hears something that sparks an idea, he'll sit and just say, ‘Play it over and over again. Play the music over and over again.’ And he sits in the back, and it goes on long enough that you almost forget he's even there because he's just silent in the corner, listening, sitting on a couch, listening over and over again.Thirty minutes, 25 minutes later, he was like, ‘I got it.’ He jumps up, runs into the room, hits record, and does the whole thing just from his head. It's amazing. He's the only person I've ever seen do that." (via Everyday Media)

50 Cent has always had a clinic eye for understanding Hip-Hop business. When he got asked about Drake’s unprecedented run in Hip-Hop at the breakfast club, 50 stated Drizzy found the cheat code: “Our culture is broken, he found the loophole cause he’s a hybrid he can rap and sing, it’s way easier to expand in Hip-Hop when you can sing and make people dance”.
