He died by suicide at the age of 77.
At the age of 77.
He was rich.
Zero financial woes.
Let that sink in.
In other parts of the world, senior doctors retire at 65 and enjoy the rest of their lives.
It is not always about the money.
In India, senior doctors are overworked because the public perception is that a senior doctor with many patients is always the best option, leaving hard-working, up-to-date, well-read junior doctors as "inexperienced" and with fewer patients.
For a patient or their family a doctor who picks up their call at night and answers their silly questions at any time of the day or responds to a completely different patient query and vague reports send over Whatsapp is a "great, noble doctor."
Doctors must start seeing this profession as a job, a means of earning comfortably and not get married to it. Take charge of your health. Take charge of your family life. Have your own small clinic set up to earn on the side, and not just a big hospital for you to drain yourself out.
I know doctors who are heavy drinkers. Many doctors are depressed. They have nothing to look forward to except their patients. Diversify your actions. Do something beyond work. Work is not everything. Take small breaks. Travel. See places around. Play a bit in stock markets. Engage beyond the hospital. Play games. Take up a sport. Join a group. Visit new cafes. Learn to unwind.
Doctor work culture is so toxic in India, toxic positivity has taken over most doctor lives here. To see more patients, perform more procedures, spend more time in the hospital, return home late, sleep lesser than the other doctor, wake up early and go to bed late - these are all considered "normal" for a doctor in India.
This is not f*cking normal. It is an unhealthy obsession that will later take over your physical and mental health.
The corporate medical world does not care for you, but you can care for yourself if you want to and have a comfortable life. It is possible, once you start thinking about it.

@MandarSawant184 If MY wins, AP will be out, RT will join MY, CM will be from BJP, but DF will be deployed to Centre.

If NDA wins Maharashtra, I have a strong gut feeling that Devendra won't be CM.
But he has a strong future ahead of him and will he in politics for next 2 decades. His canvas is from galli to Delhi and everything in between.
There is no political leader as strong as Fadnavis currently in Maharashtra politics.

@gypsy_nilima @snehamordani Sorry Madam, but dry eyes don't lead to retinal hole formation. It is the acute posterior vitreous detachment that can lead to holes/tears. It is a random natural process.
English

Sneha it’s important to tell your viewers what leads to holes in the retina
The first step is dry eyes
If not treated on time you can get these holes
The best analogy I can think of
It’s similar to what happens to soil during a draught
Please do a show on dry eyes
Vitamin A deficiency
Too much screen time is a significant risk factor. Digital eye strain (computer vision syndrome) occurs when prolonged screen time causes uncomfortable symptoms, including dry eyes, blurry vision, and eye strain.

AAP's Rajya Sabha MP, Raghav Chadha, will undergo a vitrectomy surgery in the UK to prevent retinal detachment
What is Retinal Detachment?
➡️ The complication leads to small holes in the retina, poses a grave threat to eyesight, necessitating immediate action to avert irreversible damage.
➡️ Without prompt treatment, these holes can rapidly progress, leading to severe vision impairment or blindness
➡️ The longer retinal detachment goes untreated, the greater your risk of permanent vision loss in the affected eye.
➡️ Retinal detachment itself is painless. But warning signs almost always appear before it occurs or has advanced
Symptoms are:
👉The sudden appearance of many floaters — tiny specks that seem to drift through your field of vision
👉Flashes of light in one or both eyes
👉Blurred vision
👉Gradually reduced side (peripheral) vision
👉A curtain-like shadow over your field of vision

@keepitsimple176 Double that. Career counselling before and financial education during MBBS is the least requisite . Also, I don't think it is about money anymore, but more about time on hand, both during training and after starting practice.

My MBBS collegue who chose MBA from IIM Banglore post MBBS is working at Mckinsley and Co with 30 LPA. One collegue who chose Maths over Biology after 10th standard is working with 40 LPA package.
I chose to do PG in pediatrics. I am still studying, confused whether to go for SS or not. (3 years more wait)
Now, Is this about earning? No. Doctors do earn well even if we start late.
But this is about career opportunities available.
When I was in 10th standard, I was given choice between Maths and Biology. Commerce, Arts were funnily brought in conversation.
I made choice of Biology as per my limited knowledge that engineers don't earn well, atleast what I had heard at that time with all the jokes on engineers. Also, my family has medical background so.
Currently, I am very much doubting what I did, again not because of earnings but maybe, If I were given understanding of all the options and career opportunities in all of them, I would have made different choice.
Message here is, at the age of 15 years, your child is understanding enough that if you explain well to them, they will make an informed choice. Career counselling is an important thing.
