I wish Americans were more uncomfortable with death. I think large swaths of our population are coddled by spiritual psychosis so death doesn’t seem as grim or finite. They can’t conceive of a reality where you don’t go to the big kingdom in the sky

On a more serious note, most festival programmers are male. Most of them don't "get" my work. If women's festivals didn't exist, I may not have screened, been reviewed, gotten support to make other shorts and a feature. Special festivals give women and POC a chance.

one of the quieter shocks of getting older is looking back and realizing that a lot of the friendships you thought were deep were actually just circumstantial. you were in the same place at the same time with the same things happening and that was the whole foundation. once the circumstances changed so did the friendship.
