Hawaiian pizza has no connection to Hawaii at all. It was invented nearly 4,500 miles away, in a small town in Ontario, Canada, by a Greek immigrant experimenting in his own restaurant kitchen. Sam Panopoulos moved to Canada from Greece in 1954 and eventually opened a restaurant called Satellite with his brothers in Chatham, Ontario. Pizza barely existed in Canada at the time. Panopoulos had to drive across the border to Detroit just to see how it was made. Back at his own restaurant, with no formal pizza training, he started experimenting on his own, inspired partly by the sweet-and-savory combinations he'd seen in the Chinese-American dishes already on his menu. In 1962, he opened a can of pineapple, drained it, and threw the chunks on top of a plain cheese pizza with ham. He named it after the only clue on hand, the brand printed on the pineapple can: Hawaiian. Customers hated it at first. Panopoulos said people told him he was crazy for even trying it. He kept serving it anyway, and eventually it caught on so completely that it became one of the most ordered, and most argued about, pizza toppings in the world. Decades later, Iceland's president publicly joked he'd ban pineapple on pizza if he had the power. Canada's Prime Minister responded on social media the same day, declaring his full support for the Canadian invention. A can of pineapple and a slow night at a small-town diner started an international debate that's still going. © Eats History #archaeohistories

🚨In addition to Kayla Rekieta recently submitting an affidavit for an HRO against the Toe in Stearns County on 6-17-26 for up to 50 yrs, there is a separate one that has been filed by Kayla Rekieta against Steel Toe Media Inc. A hearing is set for July 20th for both cases, but K. Rekieta has asked for a continuance to obtain legal counsel. Case #'s are 34-CV-26-431 & 34-CV-26-432. 1/2

Another @RekietaLaw ally, Hefty Haley, has conveniently been told that Our Wife Kayla Rekieta has filed a civil suit against Steel Toe Media. It's kinda transparently pathetic that this is what amounts to Nick's circle of influence and basically the high point in his life right now.
