10sSoon on Base: Key Technical Insights
We recently launched 10sSoon on Base and saw high transaction activity from the start. In the first three hours of Round 1, we processed 116,000 transactions, reaching #1 on x402scan and the highest volume across all x402 servers.
Within days, we were #3 all-time by buyer count. The traffic eventually exceeded the Coinbase Facilitator’s capacity.
Round 2 moved even faster. Technical issues were fewer, and the fixes we implemented helped transactions run more smoothly.
Here’s how 10sSoon works: users pay 1 USDC to predict BTC price movement over the next 10 seconds. Each prediction is a payment transaction on Base via x402. Thousands of users made predictions at the same time, creating very high transaction density.
The main bottleneck was the EVM’s sequential nonce processing. Multiple transactions from the same address must be processed in order. Under heavy load, this caused delays, some payment timeouts, and retries, which increased the load. This exceeded the facilitator’s capacity, not the Base chain itself.
To address this, we are building the SOON Facilitator on SVM with parallel transaction processing. It remains compatible with x402, provides sub-400ms finality, and supports 100k+ TPS without the sequential bottleneck.
The key insight: Base handled the volume well; the issue was at the infrastructure layer. With high-performance processing, microtransaction applications like 10sSoon can scale effectively.
We are now preparing Round 3 with the @soon_svm facilitator to meet continued demand. The response shows strong interest in high-frequency prediction markets, and we’re building the infrastructure to support it at scale.

We’re still calculating the number of users whose 10s tokens were not minted just now. For correct predictions within 50k attempts, the 10s tokens will be issued as SOON as possible; predictions exceeding 50k attempts will be refunded 1 USDC based on the rule.
In addition, the LP pool will be added after all tokens are issued, because we need to settle the revenue excluding the refunds — 50% of that revenue will be added to the LP pool.

Due to the surge in participation traffic, Base transactions can't be settled — the EVM’s sequential nonce mechanism became a bottleneck. Since each account’s transactions must be processed in strictly ascending nonce order, congestion easily occurs when many transactions are sent at once. As a result, some tokens might not have shown up in time. Once the prediction settles, all pending tokens will be minted. This experiment highlights a key limitation of EVM-based chains: poor parallelization. A better parallel-transaction architecture is clearly needed — and that’s exactly what SVM will deliver.

we have read through all the community feedback and understand that a simple refund won't help as majority of that will be sent back to the bots. the new plan will fuck bots and support our community. whoever that keep asking for refund (most retail couldn't mint or just minted once with a cost of 1 USDC) are likely to be the bot guys, we will ignore them for now and focus on executing the new plan. fuck bots.
