Here’s my take on networking IRL that no one asked for:
Meeting people IRL shouldn’t be the first time they’ve heard of you.
If you go to a web3 event & no one knows your name, that means you haven’t been doing a great job of building your brand, presence, & connection online.
Ideally, IRL should add up to what you’ve been establishing online. Why?
You only have say 5-7 days to meet people in events. The rest of the year, you should be working on your craft.
When people know you from your online presence and you meet IRL, it feels like you’ve known each other for years even if that’s only the first time you’re meeting in person. That’s when the magic happens.
It’s fine to go on events and to have some people not know you. Ideally tho, this should be kept to a minimum—especially if you’re attending events of communities you’re part of.
IRL is the alpha but you can only best harness that alpha with a strong online presence.
