At the Africa CEO Forum 2026, Equity Group Foundation and UNICEF signed a Strategic Partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that reinforces a shared commitment to empowering Africa’s youth through skills development, entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and sustainable livelihoods. The partnership builds on ongoing collaboration and seeks to accelerate “Transition to Work” pathways for young people across Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and the DRC, with a strong focus on adolescent girls and young women. Through this collaboration, the two institutions will work together to equip youth with market-relevant skills, mentorship, innovation capabilities, and access to opportunities in the green economy, digital economy, healthcare, and enterprise development. This cooperation reflects Equity Group Foundation’s commitment to transforming lives and livelihoods by connecting young people to opportunities that enable them to move from learning to earning. The partnership brings together the complementary strengths of Equity Group Foundation and UNICEF, leveraging both organizations’ regional footprint, youth empowerment platforms, and ability to mobilize diverse stakeholders. By combining Equity’s financial inclusion ecosystem and private sector reach with UNICEF’s technical expertise, trusted partnerships with governments and communities, and convening power, the collaboration aims to create scalable and sustainable impact for young people across the region. The MoU also opens avenues for joint resource mobilization, innovation, and partnerships that support inclusive economic growth, climate resilience, digital transformation, health systems strengthening, and MSME development, all aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Speaking during the signing, Equity Group Foundation Executive Chairman, Dr. James Mwangi noted that empowering young people is central to Africa’s socio-economic transformation, adding that strategic partnerships are critical in creating pathways for dignity, opportunity, and shared prosperity. UNICEF Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Director, Etleva Kadilli, emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in unlocking opportunities for Africa’s youth, noting that investing in young people, especially girls and young women, is essential to building resilient communities, inclusive economies, and sustainable development outcomes across the continent.
