Nvidia just committed $3.2 billion to a glass company. Meta signed a $6 billion deal to the same supplier in January. Corning. At 200 gigabits per second, copper resistance generates too much heat in the high-bandwidth links between GPUs. Each wire's electromagnetic field leaks into its neighbors. The power required to push electrons that fast becomes prohibitive. Glass solves all three problems. Inside every Nvidia rack, 5,000 copper cables are being replaced with optical fiber. The same company building the replacement also makes the glass on your iPhone. Corning invented low-loss optical fiber in 1970. Three physicists in upstate New York pushed light through glass with less than 17 decibels of loss per kilometer. That invention built the internet. Now AI is moving onto the same medium. We manufacture chemicals. Data centers became our fastest-growing customer segment. The next bottleneck is glass.
The Kobeissi Letter@KobeissiLetter

BREAKING: In a "game changing" deal for AI, Nvidia is partnering with glassmaker Corning to develop 3 new advanced manufacturing facilities entirely for optical technologies. Details include: 1. The factories will lead to the creation of at least 3,000 jobs and increase Corning’s US optical manufacturing capacity by +1,000% 2. Nvidia is likely set to replace copper with Corning’s optical glass fibers in its AI rack-scale systems 3. Optical fiber allows for less signal loss than copper, making AI data centers more efficient 4. Corning, $GLW, is surging +16% on the news and Nvidia, $NVDA, is up +3% The AI Revolution is accelerating.

@Dontee___ They should read about the implications of the "Global Magnitsky Act" on the "Ok" movement.

I plan to make an explanatory video to draw attention, especially among young people, to the dangers of the OK movement and why they should not be part of it. Don’t let anyone waste 8 years of your two electoral cycles. You have to remain in the coalition and go with it!

I may disagree. What Nigeria needs is a great and top-notch independent system operator that handles reliability, markets, and tarrif design and implementation appropriately. It can be under any ministry.

In 2015, I proposed that we should have a Minister for Energy. They will coordinate Coal (which is with Solid Minerals), with Hydro (which is with Water Resources), with Gas (which is with Petroleum), with Solar (which is with Power), and give us light! thecable.ng/just-in-adelab…

In the New Testament, being an apostle isn’t just a leadership title or a “high-level Christian role.” It’s a specific, divinely commissioned office with three core conditions: 1.Direct commissioning by Jesus. Apostles were personally chosen by Christ (e.g., the 12, Paul on the Damascus road). 2.Witness to the resurrected Christ. Apostles had to see or be directly revealed the risen Lord so they could testify authoritatively. 3.Mission with foundational authority. They were sent to establish churches, confirm the gospel, and teach doctrine, often with signs and miracles to confirm their message. Because of this, someone claiming apostleship today usually doesn’t meet these biblical conditions. Modern Christian leaders might be pastors, prophets, or missionaries, but calling oneself an “apostle” in the New Testament sense would be theologically inaccurate.

TBPN has been acquired by OpenAI! The show is staying the same and we’ll continue to go live at 11am pacific every weekday. This is a full circle moment for me as I’ve worked with @sama for well over a decade. He funded my first company in 2013. Then helped us fix a serious logjam during a critical funding round a few years later. When I took my second company through YC, he was president at the time, and then when I joined Founders Fund, the first deal I saw in motion was the post-ChatGPT round in late 2022. And as we started growing TBPN last year, he was the very first lab lead to join the show. Thank you to everyone that has been a part of TBPN until now. The last year has been the most fun and rewarding part of my career and we’re excited to have more resources than ever going forward.
