If we lose Gordon, Tonali, Bruno, Hall & Joelinton in this window & only replace them with unproven players, that's quite something. We're basically starting from scratch & it'll take years imo, to get back to where we were. I guess you could call it exciting. Also, terrifying.

Better than Carrick? Better than Maresca? He won a trophy for Newcastle. Granted that’s a tall order but he’s been pretty shite other than that. With some great players he managed an EFL trophy and a finished in 12th last season when he had all these players he didn’t want to lose. Carrick started on a negative and got 3rd. I like Howe. I actually want him as England manager one day. But let’s not throw around silly comparisons

@Karlito65 I love the idea of a root and branch overhaul if we have the tools to do it and it's done properly. I feel like a lot of what is going on is being framed at that when, in fact, it's a bit of blind panic. I hope I'm wrong. I'll hold my hands up, if so.

@delfender I think the opposite. It is almost a root and branch overhaul. There is no doubt we need further additions and experienced ones at that but SCR and PSR are the things to direct anger at.

Newcastle United, what a shambles. A laughing stock. Where are the owners? What the hell is going on behind the scenes? It's hard to blame a single player for wanting to leave because it's clear there is no structure or plan for the future of this club.

@gallowgatenufc1 @GianfrancoShoIa Oh, I like that we're buying these types of players, but not alongside losing such a large chunk of our best, PL proven players. It's a huge risk. I hope it pays off. I'll hold my hands up if everything is amazing and this was all part of the bigger plan.

@delfender @GianfrancoShoIa We bought Bruno and Botman, not many had heard of those. Same with Thiaw. Hall. To name a few. Let's give the new guy a chance. You couldn't have been happy with what Howe was serving up the last 6 months or so. I love Howe, but it was going very stale.

@GianfrancoShoIa Eddie has gone and I don't think he's done it now for any other reason than he can see the mess behind the scenes and knows he can't work with it. Obviously, I hope I'm wrong in all of this but it's hard to think anything else at the moment.

Just to clarify, I am not and will not judge any new manager until he has had a chance to prove himself. I really do hope and pray that this is the right thing for the club and it means we move forward. I'm skeptical. I truly believe there is far more at play here.

I'm gutted about Eddie Howe's departure, but more because of what it says about the direction and management of Newcastle. Gordon and Tonali gone, Bruno next, the squad in desperate need of new leaders, and now the manager leaves 3 weeks before the season starts. A shambles.

🚨 Newcastle are not denying reports tonight that Bruno Guimaraes has asked to leave the club. ❌ We understand Arsenal have made NO contact with Newcastle over the availability of the player, similar to the situation with Sandro Tonali in January. ❓ But it’s understood conditions of a deal have been explored via agents/intermediaries.
