This story reminded me, Amex/Visa/Mastercard should watch out. They could easily get dragged into this. A clever class action attorney could drag them in. Makes you wonder with all the fraud on the ticket resale sites why they even do business there.

Same thing happened me to recently for Coldplay tickets while traveling to Miami. Spent several hours contacting @StubHub support because the tickets never got delivered. Had to buy a second set of tickets elsewhere. @StubHub said they’d investigate. Came back and said that as a result of their “investigation” the tickets were indeed delivered, and they’d not refund me. I asked for any evidence from this investigation. They would not provide. The call center agent also refused to let me speak to a manager. I screenshotted and documented this entire process. It’s in dispute via @AmericanExpress now. Needless to say I’m never transacting with @StubHub again.

Nowhere near the amount of fraud. Ticketmaster is selling primary tickets directly under contract with venues, agents, promoters and artists. It's almost impossible to sell a fraudulent ticket on these platforms. You know exactly who you are buying it from. At the settlement there is something called a ticket audit. Having venue, ticketing platform, promoter all different entities helps keep everyone honest. Now sometimes they aren't separate entities, but Ticketmaster/LiveNation operate under DOJ supervision.

Want to share why I will never use @StubHub again. Bought 4 tickets to a Broadway show for tonight. Brought three kids. At 4pm we get notification that our purchased tickets will NOT be delivered. Miserable. But we're in NYC what are we going to do? There are no comparable tickets so we have to buy new ones at $600 more total. Get to theater and are told they're counterfeit. Join (not kidding) 7 other groups all calling StubHub with the same problem. Ticket Lady: "this happens every night." The ticket counter even handed out cards with the StubHub phone number on it because it happens so much. So StubHub gives us new tickets and...they're counterfeit too. So that's our night. Made a big deal about taking our kids to Hamilton because it was a rough summer for them and we are now on a bus home, no show. Have deleted the app off my phone and will never touch this company again.

@davidclowery @FTC And I have spoken with the federal prosecutors involved with the case and presented my point of view which they had no knowledge whatsoever about, and they did not do anything to act on it. This is going back several years now.

@davidclowery @FTC That is one interpretation that I don't necessarily agree with, however that is not the aspect that is in my opinion openly criminal. And you have to keep in mind this is a company that has stolen tens of thousands of dollars from me, maybe even close to $100,000 over the years.

Similar situation when you book a show in California. The state imposes withholding on out of state performers. It’s basically a tax since most bands don’t have resources to file multi-state or know Byzantine process to apply for reduction. Fortunately I have a guy already on payroll that knows the ropes. But most bands never get the withheld funds back.
