Enforcing political power through exclusion and patronising statements is the lived experience of many in our society. We applaud @SenatorPayman for taking action knowing the personal price she would pay, using her representation and position for progress.

Challenging the status quo is an essential part of change-making. Silence is complicity. Nobody should ever be expected to vote against the rights of themselves or others to appease those who hold power.

Right now we are witnessing political power being used to silence and delegitimise @SenatorPayman for her support of Palestine. Politics isn't a game, it is not a team sport. The decisions made in parliament affect all of us but regularly aren't in the interest of our communities
