@VioletNovaGalxy @dreamtdebris creators should focus less on whether the audience gets it or not and focus more on telling the story they want to tell. if that Really matters to you then just explain it afterwards, or don't. if you're a good storyteller people will understand whether it's "easy" or not

I don't think stories being obvious is bad. Something should be easily understandable otherwise the audience misses the point. I think if you're a storyteller and the audience can walk away not knowing what story you're trying to tell, something has gone terribly and horrifically wrong.

we all live in completely different worlds i'm here complaining about how tadc's story is way too obvious and super heavyhanded and there's people out there saying it's too vague and that's why the story is bad

i think if a lot of TADC fans read I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream they’d complain that the characters don’t get enough development or that the lore is vague

i disagree w a lot of the general hangups people have about fallout 4 design but... i'm sorry. the hud ui is so damn ugly. let's take one of the most visually distinct elements from the last two games and make it look like a middle schooler's arial bold powerpoint project

@LegoKingo ngl i honestly disregard whenever people say things like "hopecore", either way i think the real issue is people like recognizing themes and lumping all those stories together regardless of quality, like however you feel about it PHM is masterfully made

I didn’t really think project Hail Mary was hopecore. I think that label is ascribing a level of thematic self-awareness that the movie doesn’t really have.

@Pro_Pinkist @luckyarcades imo if anything a show overtly "handling" serious topics just makes it seem more targeted for teens tbh, at least that's how i feel (i'm also lucky's age fwiw), i think stuff made for adults tends to have less consideration for the audience in general

@luckyarcades I mean, the show was made by millennials and there’s a lot of references/similar vibes to early 2000’s era video games/media that’s nostalgic if you were a 90’s kid. It handles mental health very tastefully and in a way that’s too nuanced for a lot of kids who watch it—

hottest of hot takes here: i think overall I really enjoy tadc but i think the writing falls into the pitfall of explaining things to the audience way too literally and think thats only partly because its target audience is teenagers with TikTok attention spans

@luckyarcades the approach itself is just so bad, not even that the show itself is bad. but the way they approach like the world the concept the characters and their relationships relies so much on the viewer being able to accept that what they show/tell you fits together even when it doesn't
