Fire update: after spending 8 days away we are finally home and I am beyond grateful! In 2016 we weren’t so lucky. After a last minute evacuation we spent six weeks away & our communities faced devastating losses. I am so thankful that we are home and that we have a home to go to

The stress of evacuation is one thing, but watching your husband leave to help with it is a whole other level

When the motel gives you a king sized, one bed room and you have three dogs, two kids and two adults, but it has a kitchenette so you make the best of it. At least the kids are happy. My oldest is living his best life right now 😄

Sisters and nephews are fine, but my husband went back this morning to ready the pumps and sprinklers at his work site and then he’s heading home to help with the fire guard. Please, PLEASE be safe 🙏🏽

Well the fire jumped the highway and my husband was turned back around. Now I’m worried about my sister and my nephews

@Words_of_a_Nerd I’m not sure. They’ve set up the pumps and sprinklers around the community. My husband is going back tomorrow to help with the fire guard so we’ll know then

I’ve had ZERO motivation to write, read and post on social media, but today we were STRONGLY encouraged to leave our home after we received an evacuation alert yesterday and I need an outlet. I’m so over fire season

It’s officially day 2 of evacuation and my allergies aren’t too happy about all the smoke 😒 on the bright side the ppl here have been so kind!

@MelJRey That’s terrible. I’m so glad they got out in time ❤️ It’s so frustrating. In 2016 we were evacuated and it was not fun. They told us we’d be gone a week. That week stretched to six. I packed everything I could because I’m worried the same thing might happen again

@dene_lynn So sorry. My cousin lost his house a few years back to a fire. He had minutes to escape the house with his dogs. He didn’t have time to get the cats and they lost everything. They rebuilt but eventually moved because the stress & threat of it happening again was too much.
