I’ve said it many times before: these international fans who trash Korea nonstop try to live vicariously through Korean content, consuming it with the fury of addicts. Why? It could be their lack of pride in or connection to their own respective countries, driving a need to compensate by attaching themselves to another country (just like basement dwelling weebs in bumfuck America do with Japan). It could be their own lives are just so miserable that k-content is their way of coping. But at the end of the day, the image they’ve built of Korea is one based on petty resentment, fantasies that would make a schizophrenic look neurotypical in comparison, and a realization that no matter how much content they consume, they will never be Koreans at the end of the day. If native Koreans refer to diaspora as “foreigners”, what makes you think they’ll accept some idiot with a room temperature IQ from God knows where who thinks K dramas and kpop are representative of Korean society? These fans who hate Korea are like weebs who think watching Bleach makes them knowledgeable or more “Japanese”. Either way, much of it seems to also stem them being spiteful mutants who project their insecurities and hangups on Korean content and culture. But at the end of the day, they can complain about how terrible Koreans are, but they still will spend their money and gobble up South Korean content like how Tony Montana snorts a whole mountain of cocaine on his desk at the end of Scarface. They cannot stop consuming and spending their money on such an “evil country”. It’s pitiful, really.

We need to have a serious conversation about how many kpop fans are embarrassed to be kpop fans, so they go out of their way to drag or speak down to Koreans/korean culture in order to not be seen as the stereotypical koreaboo
